Anyone flying a photographer from home? Dreams Cabo Bride

Recommended Posts

Hi...

I got quotes from two photographers in Cabo, including Juan Carlos. And their prices are soooooo high.

Did anyone feel the same way? Is anyone bringing a photographer from home? Around here (CT) their rates are much lower and I'm starting to wonder if it would be cheaper to bring a photographer from here even if I have to pay for flight/hotel for like 3 days for him....

But them I thought: will he know the best spots for pics? Or it doesnt make a difference...

Thanks for any help

I am bringing my own. I'm not staying at Dreams though. It was cheaper it bring him for 6 nights with us and pay his fee, than to book one down there. I figure we will have pics on everything. He says we should have between 8-10 thousand shots. I can't wait. I dont have to bring a camera.

He is doing some research from here and said he would do some scouting when we get there.

That is what I am hoping to do with my photography. I think it is smarter to bring your own because then you have so many more to decide from because you can take one from anywhere. My suggestion would be to weigh your options :) ask photographers and get quotes! Good luck

im getting married in cabo in 3 weeks and hired bradley fraser as my photographer. he has been wonderful to work with thus far, and obviously i will review his services when i return from my honeymoon august 17th, but for me i think we got a great deal. we hired bradley at the rate of $350/hour which includes all of our images on CD at no extra cost. i love bradley's work, he is very true to the photojournalism style which is what i wanted. we are paying just under $2000 to have him for 5 hours, which in my opinion is plenty because it will cover getting ready pics, pre ceremony family pics, ceremony, post ceremony bride & groom pics alone & some with family, and then our cocktail and part of the reception before people start getting trashed. i think bradley is more than reasonably priced.

now if you want to fly a photog in so you can get unlimited coverage of your entire wedding day and probably a TTD out of it too, i would say flying in a photog is not a bad idea. BUT... with the cost of airline tickets right now and then having to pay for their hotel room on top of that... the price can easily add up to what you would pay a local photographer.

we are flying in our own photog. after getting quotes from local people, we found it was much more cost effective to fly in our own photographer. we ended up getting SOOO much more with a Minnesota photographer, than we would have gotten with a PV photog.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
