Sand ceremony picture frame box

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I bought a similar frame from Michael's. It's called a floating shadow box (didn't see it on their website, but they have it in stores). The only catch is that there are only two panes of glass, so you have to buy two frames and add a third pane of glass into the first frame. The panes are adjustable so there's actually an additional slot to put in the extra pane of glass from the second frame. The best part was that they were on clearance for $7.99 each!

My umbra ether frame came in from amazon...

When I was explaining to FI and family the plan they looked at me like I was crazy! It's an 8x10 frame but you have to use it vertically (skinny and tall) to put in the sand.

I'm going to glue in the panes and try it out but I'm a little skeptical...

I am going to try to glue this together soon also! We leave on Friday and we have to get our sand ceremony frame ready to go! We have the umbra one too. We'll let you know if we get it to work. :)

Can anyone give me an estimate of the amount of sand that will fit in the ether frame. I tried gluing my frame yesterday at my mom's house so left it there to dry. I will let you ladies know how it went in a few days... i am not very optimistic. If anyone has success gluing can you let us know what glue you used! Thanks!

Hi ladies! I haven't read through the previous posts, so someone may have already said this. We just used the Umbra frame for our sand ceremony and it did not work! Well, it worked fine for the ceremony but started leaking pretty much right away. We've since dumped all the sand out and will do it again. We're going to glue in the back two panes and are confident that will solve the problem.

This frame came from another bride on here who used it over a year ago, and she said it never leaked for her. I'd love to know her trick!

I tried using glue made for glass....but that didn't work. I ended up using a hot glue gun to glue the back glass pane, took out the third glass pane, and hot glued the second glass pane. I re-inserted the first glass pane...no glue. I did a test using colored sand i purchased and it didn't leak....hopefully it will work once I use it for the actual ceremony...lol!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
