Logistics...?

Recommended Posts

hey y'all!

well, we just had another family/future in-law wedding meeting, and it was slightly stressful.. (of course the margaritas helped!)

i'm worried about the logistics of getting people to and from the airport....if y'all don't mind posting what you did/plan to do that would be so helpful. i'm getting a price quote from enrique mora @ los cabos travel...is this the best option? i think we are also renting a car?

also, how did you handle going out to eat in Cabo? we are not at an AI so we will dine out most of the time...any suggestions so we don't end up with one large bill to pay?

as far as activities go...are y'all compiling a list of things to do...like suggestions? or arranging activities? we have one arranged cruise scheduled but that's it so far. any suggestions?

thanks so much...! the days are going faster and faster!

every one of our guests is on their own to find transportation from the airport to the hotel. not everyone is staying at the same hotel either. a few people are renting cars. the only person we are actually picking up from the airport is the priest we are flying in (who is also an extended family member). i just dont see transportation as a necessary expense - why should i pay for them to get to/from the airport? plus, with all the problems going on with the taxi union down there right now (keep in mind this will probably change before your wedding, but mine is in 3 weeks) it would be impossible to hire private transport roundtrip for my guests anyway

this is part of the reason we are renting a car. we are staying closer to the san jose del cabo side, and we plan to drive into town quite a bit to explore and eat. our hotel is the westin, and it is not an AI.

we are compiling a list of activities and posting it on our website and then also doing a welcome book with activities printed in it. i have not really gotten much done on it yet though, so i have to kind of hurry.

check out caboticket.com and bookcabo.com for more ideas of activities. we are not arranging any activities (or paying for activities) for our guests - many of them have been to cabo before, so they are not going to want to do anything scheduled

Hi Nicole,

We are worried about logistics as well. I am working on an activities list right now :)

I am compiling a list of activities with prices and times and sending it out to our guests via email to get an idea of who wants to do what with the hopes of getting a group reservation. If I can't get a group then people are on their own to reserve activities.

Here's what we are doing:

Transportation:

Airport: transfers are included for most of my guests at our hotel so that's covered. Anyone staying elsewhere are on their own. We provided a link for airport transportation options on our website.

Outings: we are planning a rehearsal dinner in San Jose so we will just pay for cabs for everyone to and from dinner (if they stay out after dinner to party, they are on their own). It's only about $10 each way from our hotel so no big deal.

After party wedding night: same as the rehearsal dinner. We will pay for cabs to Cabo for anyone going out that night. If people leave early or at different times, they are on their own to get back.

We are a bit out of luck with the taxi issues as we hadn't reserved any private transport prior to the strike so we do not have a contract. It will just be cabs for us unless something changes before Sept.

Hope that helps!

Don't stress either about people getting to and from the airport. If it's going to break the bank then don't do it. People will understand. Just give them other options (do all the research for them).

I just got back from my wedding in Cabo. We booked shuttles for many people to the resort for $20 each. Those who didn't get it together in time to book this too a shuttle they found at the airport for $15 per person, or some came alone and took a taxi for $35. So, transportation is not an issue. You can always find it and it was actually rather reasonable since the airport is way out in the middle of nowhere. We have NO taxi issues the entire 2 weeks we were there while all the "strike" issues were happening. The only issue I ever saw is that one say we were on a shuttle (which is different from a taxi there) and they wouldn't allow it inside the resort gates to pick people up and the people had to walk to the gate to get in....which really wasn't a huge issue. So, while I know that the strike issue is anxiety provoking.....we were there for 2 weeks and took taxi's almost daily and never had an issue.

Hope that helps soothe any anxiety about transportation!

One of my friends work at Solaris (an hotel in San Jose del Cabo) and suggested to check their web page in the tours section because it has most of the tours in Cabo and prices (that could be a little bit higher than regular if you consider the mark-up of the Hotel, but it could give you a rough idea).

About a nice restaurant for the rehearsal dinner I would recommend in San Jose the "Tropicana" is in downtown and has pretty good Mexican and international food. If you guys are staying at Cabo San Lucas you should definitely check "La Fonda", its top Mexican Food with great service.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
