Marriott And their Spa, Ohtli

First, they are doing a restructuring and remodeling of things and I think the end result could be fabulous! What that means is:
1. They are now allowing someone who wants to do a wedding there to do their wedding WITHOUT having to stay there. This is super rare in Vallarta - nearly all hotels that I know of in the bay require that you stay at their hotel in order to have your wedding there.
2. They have an AMAZING, incredible, AMAZING (did I say amazing? ) spa! I had no idea they had remodeled and recreated their spa. It's $$$, eh, but absolutely beautiful, tranquil and oodles of options. Here's a website that talks a little about it Puerto Vallarta Ohtli Spa. They gave me a cd with photos on it but I haven't had a chance to see if this includes photo of the spa or not. I can't even explain how beautiful the spa area was - I need to see if I can find some good photos .
3. They are remodeling their rooms (very quietly and floor by floor) - expected to be completely finished by Oct 31st this year! And the new remodeled rooms are GORGEOUS!! The decor is not something that you typically see in a hotel room - feels more like a cozy home. Also, they have wireless in all the rooms and hook-ups on the desk that are really great - with various outlets for things like video games, IPODs, computers, etc. The tvs are the flat paned tvs.
4. They are in process of remodeling their salons (their banquet hall) and one of their restaurants. The manager told me she would invite me back when they have it all finished.
BTW - with all this remodeling going on you would think it would be noisy and obvious - but it wasn't at all. I was super impressed with the company that is doing the work there - not only with the final result, but also with the way they are working. If the manager hadn't told me they were remodeling I wouldn't have had any idea.
I talked with them about response time to emails and about how important that was to North American brides - the response I received was very positive and I do think they are going to look into how they can restructure things so that their coordinators have more time to answer questions, etc.
All in all, good meeting and I was absolutely impressed with the changes they are making at the hotel. Just wanted ya'all to know!

We had 24 people attend our wedding in Las Caletas, Mexico on May 24th, 2009!
We all stayed at The Marriott in P.V., and Honeymooned at The Royal Plantation in Ochos Rios, Jamaica!
