El Dorado Royale questions

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are getting married at the Eldorado Royale in March 2008.

We fancied having a late morning wedding, as we thought it would be nice to have a longer wedding day. What are other peoples opinion on this?? I have seen some posts where people are saying afternoon weddings are better as there is not as long to wait till the reception but that seems like a waste of the day to me.

Also, does anyone know if there are places to swim with dolphins near this hotel?

Any other advice would be great too as there are so many things to think about!!!

my friend/client just got back from el dorado...

the best tour is the tulum/xel-ha tour and they have a swim with dolphins part there but she was going to do it but didnt because the dolphins seemed sad...i did it in cancun and did not like it at all. thought it was kind of cruel.

the day is so long, if you start with an early day wedding...1. it will be hot...2. i think the resort only gives you so much time for a private event so you will have to figure out something for your guests to do from the late morning ceremony to dinner.

Tammy, I wanted to do the dolphins in cancun, but I love dolphins and don't want to do it if they're going to be really sad looking or if they're not taken care of. Do you remember which place you did it?

Also, I don't know if anyone knows this yet, but supposedly in April? Dreams cancun is getting dolphins and going to have their own swim with the dolphins program, I just noticed it on their website the other day.

I have been to Xel Ha, and totally recommend it. People I traveled with went to the Ruins, and thought it was kind of boring.... and didn't recommend it.

I was looking into EDR for my wedding, but have talked with a few people and they said you don't want to swim there. That was my major concern about having a wedding there.

Hey pinkchick,

I'm actually going to EDR in two weeks (for a vacation, not a wedding). We haven't decided on any tours or anything, but I too looked into the swim with the dolphins. We're going for a week, and my family looooves to do tours and all kinds of stuff with maybe one or two (tops) downtime days. I'll keep you posted on the tours we liked.

I've read a lot of mixed reviews on the resort itself. Sometimes I think people post complaints because they don't have anything else to do with their time... posts like these need to be taken with a grain of salt! wink.gif But like I said, I'll let you know. Pictures on the 'net look great. Canadians like me drool over the idea of hot, sunny Mexico in the winter... so I may not have too many negative comments!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
