Dreams Puerto Aventuras Wedding 2009...Nervous..HELP!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I have been reading postings on this website since practically the day after I got engaged. I was a little unsure of doing a DW and needed insight and this has helped...but also made me nervous. First, because I have been using destinationweddings.com and have not been hearing great things about them on here. I have made a deposit for the trip itself but have no confirmation that my wedding date is being held, which makes me nervous. I also don't know if I am getting the best deals, etc. Secondly, I have no idea where to begin with planning. Everyones pictures are beautiful and the reviews and stories of weddings sound wonderful but I have no idea how to go about doing any of this and I am beginning to drive myself crazy!!! Advice please!!!??

YAY for another DPA bride!!! PM me what you are paying/quoted and I will let you know how it compares to my rates. I am getting married at DPA a week after you. I would recommend contacting Natalia directly. She will respond to you within a day most likely about your date and time. Feel free to ask me whatever you want. I have pretty much done it all myself so I am glad to pass on any knowledge I have!

In terms of getting stuff done, make a list! Include outfits and accessories for the bride and groom, decorations, invitations, rings etc, etc. Decide which ones you need / want to do first and then just get going. I would start with something fun (like a DIY project if you enjoy that) to get you going and started on the right foot. Make sure to allow lots of time for ordering stuff like your dress and rings.

You need a good WC! That was the very first thing I did, and the rest has been a breeze. She does ALL the contacting/deposits/wedding stuff for me. If I have a question I email her and she emails the resort. In fact, I haven't made a single phone call or sent a single email to my resort. I know this will eliminate a large amount of your stress.

EXCITING! Another DPA bride! I knew they had to start popping up! I am getting married after you (in November 09) so I might have to look in your direction for advice!

Contact Natalia first, she is super nice and responsive to all questions. Dreams puts on a great wedding, so that part you shouldn't be nervous about! PM me if you have any questions too!

Hi Everyone, We just booked our wedding at Dreams Puerto Aventures also. Our date is July 17, 2009. I have been speaking to Jacy who also answers all my emails quickly. My question for you all is does anyone know when the new Dreams is opening up? I understand it is being refurbished as it used to be a Sunscape reort and now they are re doing everything and opening I thought in October. Does anyone know? I really want to see pics of the finished resort and would like to know of areas other than the beach for ceremonies and receptions. I also want to see pics of weddings at that resort. Also I really wanted my daughter and I to arrive at the wedding in a horse drawn carriage, but when I emailed Jacy the WC she said their are only 20 steps from the lobby to the beach and everything is right together. Do you all think it would be craczy to still get the horse and carriage? We could ride around the resort a couple of times right? Let me know what you think?

Also Bianca, make sure you have your wedding confirmation number from the resort. Once you have that you can go to the travel agent and set up a group booking gor your guests. I then sent out the STD cards and people started booking after that. But I didn't do anything until all is confirmed with the wedding date with Dreams. It's exciting but on the other hand I feel like I am responsible for everyone's vacation and that makes me very nerveous! I hope this place is nice and they do a good job.

Now that we know of people having weddings there let's all keep communicating so we help each other. Here is my email if anyone wants to write back: kimmy61@comcast.net Talk to you all soon, Kim

I have been speaking with Natalia. I confirmed with her via email more than once about my date and time. She never gave me a confirmation number. She only asked me to book our room to confirm our date. I am not using a TA, so i don't need the confirmation number for that... "Baltobabe" from the Dreams forum is going to visit DPA in September for a tour. I'm not exactly sure who she is, but she is very friendly with all the Dreams Resorts... I thought the resort was opening on November 1st? I think they made an annoucement with that info, but I could be wrong. Maybe one of the TAs know the exact date? I have a couple photos of weddings that Natalia sent me... I have been meaning to upload them and post them for others to see...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
