Are you still in San Antonio? Ok so here is the deal. FI and I are going to Schlitterbahn next week and we were thinking about getting legally married down in SA. Can you think of any cool places to get married for free on the Riverwalk. We were thinking Marriage Island it is 200 bucks for a half an hour. BUT we wouldn't have anyone with us to take pictures I don't think. And you know as a true BDWer I can't process without a camera. Anyway, any Texas girls know of a place? Maybe I can con one of our friends to come with us....

I am still here!

In all honesty, Marriage Island isn't worth it. Last time we passed by it, they were doing a lot of construction near there and it was loud.

Will you bring someone down there to marry you or are you hiring a JP from here?

I think any one of the little bridges on the Riverwalk would be nice. Or even the botanical gardens. There is a beautiful little lake type thing with fish and turtles and a bunch of trees...I think it would be beautiful. You don't even have to tell them you are getting married. Just buy your ticket and walk around! Brackenridge Park is right by downtown and is really pretty. Oh and there are a few nature trails that we hike on, if you are an outdoorsy kinda couple.

Let me know what kind of places you were thinking about and I will keep looking!

We are just going to hire someone from down there. I found a site with a bunch of officiants. It's only 75 bucks. I think we really want to do it on the Riverwalk because our first trip was down there. BUT I am going to go look at the places you mentioned. Some of those bridges are beautiful. The only reason I was thinking the island is because we joked about getting married there when we first went down there.

How about doing it while you are out on the Riverwalk boat cruise (I think they do dinner cruises every weekend, and that's pretty romantic), or like Martha said - any of the little bridges over the riverwalk, or over by la Villita, there is a little stage area (where they do shows and stuff) on the rivewalk, that might also be good.

Thanks girls for your help. I would love to do the bridge but I am afraid of people trying to walk over it and just pushing us out of the way. I just emailed a few restaraunts. Maybe they will have a balcony we could do it on overlooking the riverhuh.gif I hope so. If not that stage sounds good.

We thought about getting married on Marriage Island when we first got engaged. But, really it isn't a good location because of the construction.

I think if someone sees a wedding going on, they will stay out of the way (on one of the bridges). I didn't think about the boat rides, that's an option too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
