Bridal Shower Etiquette

Recommended Posts

Is it ok to have a bridal shower if you are having a DW? More so, do you only invite the people you invited to the DW to the shower? Or do I have to have a AHR to be able to have a bridal shower and invite other people who weren't invited to the DW? Any thoughts on this would be great.

Yes, it is totally ok to have a shower if you are having a DW. Gosh, I am having two.

You only invite the people you are planning on inviting or have invited to the shower.

A shower should not be given by you, but by a bridal party member.

I'm not sure on the proper etiquette on this. but i would think that you can still have a shower even if you're having a dw, b/c you are still getting married and starting a life together, kwim??

and if you want a party after you are home, have an ahr. i see nothing wrong with it ;o)

In the etiquette section of more than one DW book I've read it says it's OK to have a shower and to register.

I would personally only want people invited who were invited to the wedding, but I'm also inviting a TON of people to the wedding, so that might be different. If you're having a reception after the fact and everyone knows you're having a reception, then I don't think it'd be too big a deal to invite people who aren't invited to the wedding.

Also, what does "AHR" stand for? I can pretty much figure out all the other acronyms, but this one I'm having trouble with!

I think it's okay. Furthermore, I noticed you are from Bradenton and you look familiar. I use to live in Bradenton. What high school did you go to?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
