When I first tried the South Beach Diet when that was the hot new diet I did good but I couldn't get thru those first 2-3 weeks without carbs. They said you would get headaches but after a few days they would go away. I had horrible headaches for 3 days in a row and couldn't stand it anymore! So hoping it's better this time around.
you will definitely get the headaches the first few days, maybe up to a week so be prepared to suck it up (by the way pain-killers don't work to fix them either i guess because of the chemical changes in your body?). once you get past the headaches and all it's smooth sailing. i did atkins before and it was slow-going for me (weight didn't pour off like it did for everyone else ... i'm talking about 9 months to lose 25 lbs ... i think my portions were still too large), but i did find it very easy to stick to -- if it has sugar, flour, or starch, you can't eat it and that's that, without crazy amounts of counting/measuring.

there are plenty of low carb and sugar free options out there these days to satisfy your sweet tooth (carb smart rocky road ice cream, or russell stover candies), but you're not supposed to partake in them during induction. Also be warned that the sugar alcohols used to sweeten them can have a laxative effect, so use in moderation and see how your body reacts.

basically you have to suffer for about two weeks but after that you'll start feeling much better and cravings become fewer and fewer!

by the way, to all you ladies ... thanks so much for this! the support is great and the monetary motivation is certainly helpful! i finally have a wedding date so the wedding is finally real ... i remembered before we were engaged i told my fiance the fastest route to seeing me thin would be to put a ring on my finger, because there was no way i'd let myself be a fat bride! well we've been engaged for well over a year and i still hadn't done anything about my weight ... until now! smile29.gif

also i was feeling a little down since the last time i saw a doctor (for the flu, mind you) he suggested that maybe it was time that i started thinking about getting gastric bypass or the lap band! the medical community has given up on me! haha the nerve of him!

this was just what i needed! so thanks again ladies! smile03.gif

Hi Flygirl. I love margaritas, Absolut & tonic, red and white wine. I HATE white zinfandel BUT...I started making a wine spritzer with it and it's not bad all dilluted and all. I use 1/2 white zin, 1/2 Perrier or any kind of sparkling water, a lemon and a lime...it's not bad. I put it in a huge wine goblet with ice and it makes me feel like I'm treating myself and it's only 2 WW point. Anyone else have any ideas? I'm not a beer drinker at all.

It's HOT in NYC today (95!) which is not cute. I am drinking a corona light with a lime as we speak. Happy friday.

Flygirl- I usually drink either light beer, wine, or if you are feeling like having a "few" then white wine spritzers. More bang for your buck cause you can drink a few and they are low in calories.

Mummergirl-I'm annoyed that your doc said that to you about gastric bypass! Docs can be so insensitive it pisses me off. Not to mention that you should be the one bringing up that option not him. I'm happy that I can offer any other type of support on your journey.

I didn't work out today and I don't plan on it. Just my regular running around but I did well food wise so far.

b: fiber one cereal/skim/blueberries

L: salad with tuna (no mayo) and 1vegan dumpling from whole foods

S: strawberry froz-fruit

D: I am planning on a little whole wheat pasta with tukey meatballs and veggies.

That should be within points.... oh and my 2 light beers.

I plan on working out tomorrow morning before my first dress shopping excursion (for confidence).

Keep up the good work Mummergirl. Your doc has no class. I agree with Yamille. It should be your idea not his. Keep it going, we can all do this together.

Yamille, good luck on your dress shopping

B: 2 wasa crisps w/ peanut butter, ice coffee w/skim milk

L: Sald with light vinagriette dressing and 1 tsp. feta

S: 1 C Watermelon and pineapple

D: Grilled chicken, salad, zuccini, 1/2 sweet potato grilled and wine cooler

I'm going to have a fudgesicle for a treat tonight - 1 point and I'm going to the gym tomorrow to swim laps

Ciao

Here's my sad list of meals for the day...

B: Total cereal with skim milk

L: Chicken thigh and small piece of steak(left over bbq) with a big salad and about 1 cup white rice

S: a couple grapes

D: McChicken with half a medium fries and a small Sprite...

My son said "I have to go to the pool" and my dad usually takes him, but he was working today. He always takes him to McDonald's afterwards, so Gabe had to go there too... so I gave in... I am down half a lbs from Wednesday... I guess its something.

So FI grabbed a bottle of pop the other day for me - Diet Pepsi, and I have decided that I will sit here in the heat and drink it out of my frozen glass. As of tomorrow I am going to stop drinking pop. This will be the biggest challenge, since I am addicted to the stuff. I don't even think it is the caffeine as much as the carbonation. Sometimes I just crave something cold and bubbly, and pop does the trick. Crazy I know, but I am going to do it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
