Grrr...the beginning of MIL drama

Wow. Thank you all so much for your words of support and understanding. FMIL has quieted down for a moment so FI is planning on leaving it alone. OH NO! Its not over....This will resurface. And I will do my best to take as much of your great advice as I can, including having FI handle it and standing my ground. As someone else mentioned, if it was easy just to invite my mother and my FIL's, I would. But its not that easy, my mother wouldn't be able to make it (nor do I want her to), I don't want one set of parents and not the other, and we really don't want to celebrate the equivalent of getting our "driver's licenses." BTW, thanx Becks, that was such a great analogy. I'm definitely stealing it.

Sorry for posting in an inaccurate forum. Thank you for moving it.

Again, thanks for everything. I'm hoping this is settled very soon so we can get back to being excited for what's to come and focus our energies on the positive.

Erika

Yeah, it will resurface because your FMIL sounds very manipulating. Calling you trashy?? So the only way you can be not-trashy is to do what she wants you to do? I hate that kind of stuff and it pushes me to do the exact opposite. You better stand your ground now or your entire life with MIL will be like that.

Two weeks before our wedding, I "kidnapped" my fiance after work, drove to the airport and hopped on a plane to Vegas. When we got there, I had a limo waiting to drive us to the Clerk's office (which is open until midnight there) and in 15 minutes, we had our license. Then a quick ride over to the Graceland Wedding Chapel and we were married with Elvis! It was hysterical. We didn't exchange rings, said some generic vows, and had the legal part behind us. It was a really fun evening, but definitely not our REAL wedding. That was in Cabo last Saturday. wink.gif Moral....Don't include anyone else. Just the two of you for that part. That way it won't feel like you had 2 weddings.

If that Monday is important to you for the date I would precaution to arrive at least two days prior just in case you run into some airline difficulties - they are really cutting flights back plus overbooking, mother nature or mechanical issues have a way of making people not arrive till the next day. How bad would that stink if you arrived at the resort after your scheduled time?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
