Recommended Posts

It seems as though the more I search online for the "perfect" hotel/resort the more frusterated I get!!! I can't stand looking anymore! I am ready to schhedule a scouting trip with my fiance so that we can see the hotels ourselves. Has anyone done this and do you have any suggestions.....PLEASEsmile41.gif huh.gif

I can totally relate to what you are going through! I finally had to take a week off of looking at resorts, and then I went back with the mindset that there is no 'perfect' resort. But there are a ton amazing - 'close to perfect' resorts wink.gif

Try figuring out the top 2/3 things that are the most important to you - and then only examine the resorts that fit that criteria. I finally did that - and I am down to 2 resorts!

Good luck - let me know if you have any questions!

choosing a location is the most frustrating part! I got soooo frustrated during that process, but once thats done you'll be ready to work on the fun stuff.

Like everyone else said, decide whats important and that will help you narrow it down. And ask us questions, many of us are getting married at different resorts and might be able to help you decide.

Before we chose Dreams Tulum we made a checklist to compare the list of about 10 resorts we had it narrowed down to. We listed our biggest requirements like all-inclusive, type of beach, location, wedding services and prices, availability and cost to stay there. We eliminated a few right away and finally landed with Dreams Tulum as our choice.

Also, talk to a travel agent to get their opinion too. They can fairly easily come up with price lists and comparisons for different resorts.

I am guessing you've already done this, but read through some of these threads to get a feel for what each of these resorts has to offer. In my opinion, this is the hardest part - so it gets easier after this! As the girls will tell you, I am such a list person - so I put all the PV Resorts we were considering in a spreadsheet and started writing down all the comments/reviews I was getting so I had it all in one place.

We chose Dreams Tulum for a number of reasons.

1. Location. We love the town of Tulum, snorkeling, cenotes, Mayan ruins, Akumal and everything else around there. Being a 10 minute drive from my favorite restaurant in the world is a big plus.

2. Price. Very reasonable room rates

3. Wedding staff. I heard nothing but good about Sandra the coordinator there, and so far it has been true.

Other resorts in the running were, Secrets Capri, El Dorado Seaside Suites, Akumal Beach Resort, Bahia Principe, Dreams Cancun, Mezzanine Tulum and a few others.

Things have gotten easier and more complicated at the same time. The big decisions are out of the way now. But I go into ADD mode when I am planning anything and obsess over details. We felt the big decisions were the resort, photographer and type of ceremony to have.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
