Hey Nadine!

You look gorgeous! Sounds like you had an amazing wedding :)

Oh sweet, so they Do credit you if you're not doing the cocktail hour. Was hoping they'd do that. Good to know about the florist in town too!

Thanks so much for all the info!!

I'll send you a PM about the FB pics :)

Nic- our ceremony was in english (we actually wrote our own ceremony script and vows to make it personal) b/c we did a symbolic one-not legal. If you do a legal ceremony it will be in spanish with a translator. We didnt want that so thats why we did the symbolic and had a quickie wedding here first.

I honestly didnt plan much, you can see my planning thread in the planning thread section. They did all the decoration and flower selection, I had no idea what they looked like or what kind of flowers until we got them RIGHT before we walked down the aisle. Seriously dont stress, they do an awesome job. Add me on FB if you want to see some pics.

Bri- no prob! I didnt think they were going to credit us b/c i had asked before and she had told me there were no 'transfers'. But then when it came time to pay she didnt charge us for the extreme 40 glasses of champagne for the champagne toast (supposed to be $6 pp), only charged us for the chair covers once (instead of for the ceremony and reception) and something else? b/c of not having a cocktail hour. We were really happy and surprised!

I didn't think everything would be so pricey, considering it's an all-inclusive resort.. We are going with the Dreams of Love pkg. I was told it's $55 per person exceeding the 20 people the pkg covers. Our group is 42 people (36 adults, 6 children aged 3 and under). I can't really see any of the children actually eating the whole 4-course meal! haha Has anyone heard if there is a cheaper "kid-friendly" meal?
Also, does anyone know if there is a florist in town nearby that can be utilized? Finding the prices for bouquets, centrepieces, etc a little up there...
ALSO, looking over the list of extras that I have, it says "Sound system (speaker) for ceremony - $80"... "Sound system for reception - $150"... Can you not just pay for one and it can be moved to the reception area?!?
I probably sound like a cheap-o, but the whole reason I wanted to go away for my wedding was because I thought it would be a lot cheaper..
Any info that anyone can give would be very appreciated!! :) Congrats and happy planning everyone!

Hi Bri!!

So, I got married at the Dreams in Feb. Last year!! We didn't deal with gabby, but with Rocio. We payed half price for the kids meals...and we also had one kids meal for free since my nephew was only 1 1/2yrs. All I can tell you is to ask...everything is negotiable!! :)

Good luck with the rest of the planning....I'm sure it will be perfect!!

Hey Andie!!

Well congrats on your upcoming anniversary! :)

Gaby hasn't responded to my emails in awhile, which is understandable. She seems quite busy. But I have discussed the reception meal with all the parents and they said they are totally fine with simply taking their kids to the buffet before the reception starts. So that's good. Hooray for saving money!

Hello Ladies, I am a Dreams Huatulco Bride too.. thanks to Nadine for blog referral. I see that someone is actually getting married today. Congrats!

I was feeling nervous because as time gets closer for my May 1st wedding seems harder to get into contact with Gaby. But the forum has actually calmed my nervous for awhile. I did speak to her last week and mentioned all wedding currently happening.

I vacationed at Dream Huatulco this past summer and decided to have our wedding there. We'll be getting married at the town's church and having my Fiancées uncle/priest be the celebrant.

Hey Everyone!!

I got back about a week ago from my wedding trip to Dreams Huatulco! BEAUTIFUL RESORT! We had our wedding on Jan 26th at approx. 5:00 PM on the beach by the rocks. Gaby did an amazing job setting up the area for our ceremony, as well as the Terrace/Gazebo area for our reception & dance.

If you're anything like I was, you are probably panicking because you haven't heard from Gaby in awhile and your day is getting nearer and nearer. But believe me, she's just very busy. I snuck a peak at her wedding calendar and there seemed to be a wedding almost everyday the week that I was there.

Our day was absolutely perfect! Only downside was that a lot of our guests were sick that week and two of them couldn't even make it to the wedding. We know this was not something brought on by eating the food or drinking anything, as the first person from our group to catch the flu was my 6 month old nephew.

One of our guests offered to take pictures for us on our big day, so we did not pay for any extra photos from the resort. We just stuck with the 36 pics included in the Dreams of Love pkg. We also purchased the video, which shows the preparation of the ceremony area, all the guests arriving, and of course the ceremony itself. Very nice to have the video! The videographer was able to add a song of my choice to the video which was a nice touch.

If anyone has any questions at all, send me a message and I'll be happy to help!! Happy planning!! :)

My finance and I are debating having our wedding at the Dreams (or Las Brisas) hotel as well. We won't have a lot of guests, probably around 20 or 25. We'd like to go with the 'free wedding' option and then just buy a couple of extras.

Does anyone know if the free wedding option includes dinner at an a la carte restaurant? I thought we could just have the wedding and then all go to dinner at one of the restaurants afterward.

It says it includes a cake, so maybe they can bring the cake to the restaurant? I don't mind paying some extras, but like I said, the free wedding option sounds great too! It'll be a symbolic ceremony, as we're getting legally married here first.

I'm still totally confused as to planning this. We're going over Christmas break this year.

Thanks!

HI Fireweed! I got married over christmas break last year and it was awesome :) Perfect! You can see my review and pics in my siggy.

I am not sure if you can just have your reception in one of the restaurants or not. You might have to pay a fee. I do have to say that the area around the pool where our reception was was more private, beautiful and the meal was the BEST anyone had all week. Was there are particular reason you wanted to have it in a restaurant instead?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
