Hi everyone! Looks like this is the site I've been looking for to get me started - any and all advice is much appreciated!

Date: Either June/July or September/October 2007

Where: Not sure

What we're hoping for:

1. Sun

2. Friends and family

3. Nice accommodations

4. Not to pay near the cost we would in the United States (we're in California).

Feels like I've been looking for a Nordstrom-caliber wedding at Target-level prices, and I'm slowly going insane over the details!! I'll be scouring this site for suggestions - it's so nice to have other brides to talk to!

Hi Ann - wow, that was fast. Thanks for moving my message!

We're not sure where anymore. We've been looking into Costa Rica's Manuel Antonio area for the past 6 weeks, but the wedding planner I felt comfortable with wasn't able to get back to me earlier than Friday, and the rate she quoted for 75 people turned out to be more than $20,000, which was about what we were shooting for for the whole thing (travel and accommodations included). (Not sure that's even realistic anymore.)

Since we haven't given any guests notice yet, June/July suddenly seems overwhelming, so I started checking out alternate locations for September/October. I'm not sold on Hawaii, but would like a beautiful beach area. We've been thinking Mexico or the Carribean, and I'd like to shoot for a low season somewhere that won't put me in hurricane or overly rainy conditions. Any suggestions welcome!

Hi Tammy! I can't believe how quickly this is moving. My sister's children will definitely be there (one's 2 years old and the other is 9 months old), and my brother may be bringing his kids: 7 and 2 years old. The bulk of our families will be coming from the Midwest, but we've got a group who would be coming from Cali and some from the east coast, too.

I saw that you were in the Bay Area! Thanks for putting such a great forum together.

Well ... I am getting married in puerto Vallarta, or more specifically at Las Caletas. Las Caletas is a private beach cove area about a 45 min boat ride away from PV - it's only accessible by boat! FI and I wanted privacy - which is our main reason for choosing Las Caletas. We're getting married in June, which is the start of the rainy season in PV - but we're crossing our fingers! Then we're staying at Dreams in PV, and having our welcome dinner there the night before the wedding. Just a different idea for you to mull over! There are quite a few Las Caletas brides on here. And many other girls getting married all over Mexico - Cabo, PV, Cancun, RM, Tulum, ... so many options!

Thanks to both of you. I've been looking heavily into Cabo (Dreams) and was starting to look into Puerto Vallartas as well when I got my notification that I'd been activated.

My biggest questions:

1. Is it too late to be shooting for a nice wedding in September/October at one of these places?

2. Is it possible to have a beautiful reception for $15k or so for 75 people? Las Caletas looks beautiful! I'm going to call them right now. (One of the biggest hurdles for me has been trying to reach people during non-business hours when I'm not working!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
