Des- Thanks SO much for the info. I know you get the '08 prices because you booked in '08! I heard the 09 prices for the DJ went up to 1700...so I'm wondering what the costs will be or if they'll be an increase. I think we're going to do a private reception at Chili's and we'll be doing the DJ package. I also love BogoFoto so not 100% on this. I think we also decided to do a 2 hour cocktail hour from 7-8:45ish and I'm trying to talk my parents in to the Mariachi band for it! I'd like to do the "single lily" for my bridesmaids, but need to see a picture before I can decide if it's large enough to carry alone. I love the idea though, because it's so different. I think we'll just do the plain white chair covers, and no aisle runner (because I LOVE the cobblestone path)...but possible some fresh rose petals. Still have no idea about the cake, and photos I always go back and forth on. I'd like the 80 pics on a disk, but my mom wants more, etc... We're not having an AHR, so we're going as "all out" as we can afford for the wedding. What about you? Have you made any final decisions yet? Do you have pics of your dress for us!?

OMG! I almost forgot that I didn't show y'all my dress I will get pics today because I am going to the alterations lady to get some of the train cut off (yes, I know I am crazy, but the thing is SOO HEAVY). Yes, we have made final decisions. We aren't going all out in Mexico because my parents are throwing a huge typical reception when we get back, so I tried to keeps costs down as much as I could for Mexico. Here's what we have so far:

Cake: Vanilla Cake/Vanilla Icing with strawberry filling. We are paying extra for the fresh flower topper to match my bouquet.

Bouquet-I am getting the top picture in the blog. My mom wants me to ask for orchids too(my mom used to own a florist shop so if it looks bad she will doctor it up). I normally hate roses, but these look pretty and will match my dress really well.

Ceremony-We are doing the Royal WP because we have less than 50 guests. We will be getting the white chair covers and the mariachi band. We are bringing chair sashes and raffia fans for each chair ourselves.

Cocktail Hour-We are going to do this. WC hasn't said where, but I am willing to pay the extra $9 pp for cocktails if they don't have any space available for the complimentary cocktail hour (on the blog it says subject to availability). I just want our guests to be able to cool off and have somewhat a grouping of our guests so we don't lose any, haha)

Reception Dinner- We decided on Chilis. We are from Texas, and we love steak and seafood. I asked if we could be upstairs and I will let y'all know what her response it. Also, do they serve beer and wine at Chilis?

For music we will have the mariachi band during the ceremony and cocktail hour hopefully. For the reception I don't think we will do music. Probably just talk and have fun!

Hi girls! I haven't been around in awhile, and I'll have to go back through the last couple of pages to get all caught up on whats been happening. I had to take a break from wedding stuff for awhile. I developed an eye twitch that stuck around for a couple weeks and the solution I came up with was to try to take a week off from obsessing about the wedding. It worked, and I'm back at it now!

Thanks girls! I just started feeling like the wedding was taking over my life, you know what I mean? It was all Dave and I would talk about, and all I would think about. I just needed to spend some time doing all the things I loved before I started planning this wedding. All better now though!

Love the dress Desiree! I can see how it would be heavy, but it's a shame to loose that beautiful train! Also, I see you're wearing heels. Are you worried about sinking into the grass at all? I would love to wear some normal heels, but I thought all I could get away with were wedges.

Hi Trina! I wouldn't worry too much about the sandbags. I've seen lots of pictures where people are jumping off of them and having fun, so I think they might actually add something to the beach in a good way. I'm getting married at the gazebo because I've heard that the beach is very windy. I've also seen pictures where there are a bunch of people in bathing suits sitting in beach chairs five feet away from the wedding just watching. I was a little dissapointed at first because I was kind of set on getting married on sand with a chuppa, but now I'm super happy with the gazebo. It just seems more private. I'm doing the BD album as a wedding gift, but I also had never heard of it until I was a member of this forum.

Lisa, I love your bm dresses! They were a good choice, and best of all, the dress stress is over!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
