I'm in the process of reading past posts in hopes to get some tips and see what others in the past have done. Right now am trying to find a photographer and thinking I will just go with adventure photography, although I am not sure how far in advance I need to book. I am also trying to understand how the reception works (I have 14 guests booked with 10 other people saying that they are also planning on going). I am planning on the semi private dinner, but how does the dance portion work? I want to have our first dance together and am not sure how that works or if to have a dance it needs to be a private dinner, any suggestions?
Thank You! I look forward to hearing what everybody else is doing for their wedding!
Congrats! The RPRM is absolutely beautiful! Excellent choice for your wedding. We are getting married there April 2, 2013.
The resort photographer is Adventure Photos. The contact there is Petar Gachevski - email address email@example.com
I am unsure how far in advance you have to book. We booked with them for my wedding - he did not require a deposit - I will meet with him when I arrive in Playa del Carmen (right after meeting with Nancy at Riu to finalize wedding plans). Petar has been wonderful to work with so far - very quick to respond to any questions. They also have a Facebook page. Maybe send him an email and see if he's available that date and go from there?
They just published the following 2013 Pricing List:
As far as the reception - you may want to check with Nancy Hernandez Gonzalez who is the wedding coordinator onsite at the Riu. From what I understand, a semi-private dinner you cannot have music/dance floor since you will be sharing the restaurant with other guests of the resort. I was under the impression it's the private dinner which allows you to have music/dancing.
If you do not wish to have the added expense of a private dinner - maybe have your first dance at your cocktail hour....you could have a semi-private one there and maybe hire the mariachi band or bring an iPod with speakers....just a thought!
