SCarp- Your dress is gorgeous :) :)

Well ladies, I think its me up next after Lynn! We are having our legal day today!!! :) :) I am just starting to get excited. I've tried to play it off like it is no big deal, so it was weird last night it really felt like no big deal. Well now that the day is here, I can't help but be super excited. So I have 5 hours left as a legally single lady ;) Then we'll be at RPRM 2 weeks from tomorrow... We got out programs attached to our raffia fans, maraca tags, and gift bags for our guests done this weekend. So not too much left to do. Just downloading some fun songs to dance to during the cocktail hour. My dad is bringing down a sony system for my IPOD to dance to during the cocktail hour after the mariachi band. Any favorite wedding songs to dance to suggestions???

Thanks guys!

Good luck Lynn!

JNagan, I am just starting to think of my wedding favor bags. I ordered personalized decks of cards but thats it so far. May do a hot sauce? I want to bring an ipod with songs too. I need to get on the song hunt. I wonder how normal or strange it would be to just use my own music for everything (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception) instead of spending extra money on mariachi, harp, DJ? I wanted to use their musicians but money is running a bit low.

We're using our own music for everything cos we've run out of cash! taking a cd with our music for the ceremony, and have recruited my brother as dj, using his i-pod and speakers and he's making us playlists for the dinner, cocktail hour etc. The pot is empty (my car died and cost me over a months wage to fix) so we have no choice!

I think it'll be great though, we'll have all the music we like, and we're dedicating a song to each of our guests, and also our friends back at home who can't make it.

Nicola-Your dress looks great, congrats on finally ordering it.

As far as picking your own music, it won't be weird at all. I didn't pay extra for any of the musicians as I thought the prices were really expensive. I brought a CD (and my IPOD) for back up with all my ceremony and reception music (first dance, father/daughter, son/mother). It worked flawless. I did not plan any music for the cocktail hour and they had good piano bar type music in the background which was great. As far as the reception, if you aren't have a private reception I am not sure if they will allow you to play your music since there will be other people in the restaurant with you. I would def check with Nancy on that one.

Jen-I'm not sure if you'll need the docking station, I think they have a CD player in the cocktail area that you can play your CD in. I would double check though b/c I'm not exactly sure.

SCarp-We did OOT bags and most things were a success. Almost every guest used the beach bag that I got so if you afford to get one per room I think guests would appreciate it. I got mine for $1.00 at the Dollar tree this summer. Also, we got the personalized cups you can see what they looked like in the planning thread and every single person used them and even took them home to use. So many people at the resort were jealous of the cups and offering to buy them from us. Also, I made the key card/tip holder and every person used those too, they only cost me about $20.00 to make 30 of them so they were well worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
