Just head from Nancy, since our dinner will most likely be from 8:45 to 11. Why would I pay $1200 for the four hours for a dj. She said we could pay $1000 for the shorter time. Fine, but that is on top of the $25 per person just to get the private room at chills. She then said she was trying to get us the place from 7-11 so we could party all night, but it would cost us $45 per person. How crazy is that?!?! I said no way!!! Now they are trying to get us to change from a 4:00 ceremony to 3:00. I am fighting to keep the time we booked over one year ago!!

They didn't give a reason. Nancy thought that was what was confirmed with us, although it was not. She also said there was another wedding at 4:30 at the same hotel...interesting. About saying we want to do semi-private. I thought of that, but wondering if we could still have a dj if we don't have a private. With our huge group, I am sure it would be private anyways, but I don't want to risk it. The hotel is sold out that weekend cause it's presidents day. Just waiting for my next round of emails. I know it will all be amazing in the end, I just want to get a general idea of what to expect

Jrb- That is ridiculous! I think you need to see if there is someone above her you can talk to. I can pretty much guarentee you will not have anyone else at the restaurant b/c they only do dinner on one side of the restaurant anyway. However, you won't be allowed to have the DJ unless you confirm the private dinner. I really hate this about the RIU's b/c they change things all them time and there is no consistency. They know they have you b/c you already have all your guests book at this point.

Do you still have the email that confirmed the 7-11 wedding reception??

Ok. It's all good with the 4:00 ceremony. Now on to deal with other things, but I think everything else can be done during our meeting. Anyone have a review of their wedding night at chilis? For the ceremony...what kind of iPod do you use? Is there a sound system? Is there a microphone and speakers?

We requested 4pm wedding but have been allocated 1pm.... they wont budge on this :( so i think you just have to go with time they say, unless you get lucky and they agree to the time you have asked for.... I wonder if its because the minister will be doing another wedding at the other times, maybe at another RIU? x

when we were there there were 2 weddings in one day -- both very small.

i also wouldnt worry about the private dinner/ semi-private. we had our dinner at chilli.s (27 people) on the top floor and it was like we had the whole place to ourselves even though there was a HUGE group below us having their own party..... it didnt make a difference to us .

Im working with a bride who will be having 3, yes! 3 dress changes.  Different hair/ makeup to go along with every gown.  I say, if EVERYTHING is done and you have time to look for dress #2 GO FOR IT!  Its so much fun getting dolled up the day of your wedding and now you get to do it twice?!?  Just dont make any decisions until you have everything in order for dress #1, shoes, accessories & hair/make-up.  You chose dress #1 for a reason maybe you just need to get excited about it again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
