I am flying my photographer down and putting them up for 4 nights, so they are "family friends" who happen to be taking pictures, but they are being included in my guest count and as my guests! I know that has worked in the past...

Not sure otherwise; I know Jannae used Elizabeth Medina, so she might know!

Wow, I've missed a lot lately. Here goes:

Dana, so sorry about your dress drama!! I was so scared about my dress being ordered too big too... but it fit when I got it. :(

And that's so frustrating about your sis!! She should have def. spoken up sooner...

Staicy, I completely understand your price frustration. I'm SO worried about what the prices will look like come next summer!! :(

I'm bringing my cousin as my photographer, and she's one of the guests. I was told that's not a problem, as long as they're staying in the hotel.

Can't wait for this week: I'm getting a week-long vacation, and am going to Albuquerque to do wedding planning with my mom.

Staicy- I did the same thing as Jen. We flew our photog from home and he stayed for four days. They didn't even bat a lash when I told them we would not be needing the resort photographer. Didn't even ask a single question. We also flew in our videographer...same deal. They just told us to send the resort videographer away if he came to tape.

Adrienne- Hope you have a great weekend!

I am trying to find motivation to finish my shutterfly wedding photo book!

Staicy - no need to apologize to everyone! We all totally hear your frustrations! I know personally when I chose to have a destination wedding I had NO idea how expensive it really was. I thought I was taking the "cheaper way out" (for lack of a better term)...oh well. It will be amazing! That's all that counts.

I actually live in BIllerica and work in Bedford. Where are you at? Are you actually in the city?

Nic- thanks for your concern about big bad Earl but I think we'll all be just fine! It's amazing how freaked out the news can get everyone...when I woke up this morning there is only rain showers predicted this afternoon/evening with light winds - however, by watching the news earlier this week you would have thought that the entire east coast of the US was going to be washed away! :)

So I am super excited. We booked a group block with a group rate for our trip and we just got an amendment to our contract lowering our rates! Very exciting for us and all our guests!

Well - hopefully everyone will have an amazing Labor Day weekend! Mine will be filled wtih apple picking, wedding planning and family fun!

Staicy- I feel your frustration also. It sucks also b/c we are both only about two months away from our wedding and to find that out now is hard. From what I am getting quoted it is going to be 1,000 dollars more then what I had originally been told. I know the Boston area is just as expensive and NJ so I know I'm still saving thousands and thousands of dollars.

Nic-Virginia is right. The media has been making it seem so bad, but in NJ they aren't even calling for rain anymore.

Virginia-Our rate went down about 4 or 5 months before too. It may go down even more.

Have a great Labor day. Mine starts today, I work for the military and they give us a 4 day weekend!

Hi Everyone!!!

Hope you guys are all doing well. Man it sucks that they can just raise the price to be whatever they want... fingers cross that it doesnâ€t get so outrageous.

well we finally have about 19 people booked!!! more than i expected so thats good, however still waiting for the FI's mom to book... sigh.... you can only remind and ask so many times, we have finally decided that the ball is in their court now.

I will be picking up my wedding dress soon and will be getting it altered.. i also was told to order bigger and of course now i have spend about 200$ in alterations -- but that would have happened either way i guess since i lack in the boobage department.

Staicy2000 -- we are using outside photographers Moments that Matter. When i asked RIU about this they said it was fine and it would be about 100$ guest pass for each (there are 2) but recently i think someone mentioned they raised it too 200$ each for an outside vendor? i dont know what i'm going to do if thats the case because i cant afford it. I guess i will just show my original email that states the 100$ or perhaps not say anything at all and just buy them their guest day pass? i dont know. i'm starting to freak out.

well hope everyone is doing great! take care!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
