Argh! If I had only known this stupid resort changed prices like they do underwear, I may have rethought choices. I mean- I have read through the thread and knew there were inconsistencies-- but really? My last pricesheet for 2010 that I got awhile back, it said that the mariachis were 560, and now this pricesheet says 785?

I know it's only 200 difference, but what if this happens all throughout? We're paying for this wedding ourselves, and need to budget accordingly....

Thanks for letting me rant. Geez.

LadyTrunck- do you know if you will get the same prices as the fact sheet you were sent?? Because my 2010 fact sheet is saying that the mariachis were 560 too, and i just got this fact sheet in early Feb. I cannot believe that it would have changed so much already. Also, did much else change, where I should be worried??

I just emailed Ael and told her what it says on the Fact Sheet about dinner...can't wait to see what she says back. I'm also wondering why it says dinner is $20 on the sheet, but yet they actually charge $25! And I agree Jannae...there are so many inconsistencies with their prices that who knows what other things we're unaware of right now! It's so hard to plan your budget!

No- thanks for the info Virginia. Gives me more time to figure out what to do next.

Jen- can you send me your 2010 fact sheet? All of the ones I was actually looking at were for 2009--- I don't think I realized. jannae.ibarra@gmail.com

Katie- I noticed the different prices you gals were saying about food, then different on the fact sheet. FI is NOT going to be a happy camper about all of this either. He's already po'd that we have to pay extra for the open bar.....

This is a tad frustrating... I can't help to think that I have not done my official confirmation. They extended my timeline to May to officially reserve the date. If my heart wasn't so set on the Riu, I would maybe look into other resorts. This place just looks too amazing to give up, will just have to suck it up and take the extra ridiculous charges.

Don't worry about being the bearer of bad news Virginia. We'd have to learn this eventually and I'd rather know now and plan for the extra costs then later and be surprised! Just wondering, were those fact sheets from the wedding coordinator?? Mine seems so different then yours, and is more wedding specific (has the types of weddings, photography info, flower costs, etc.)

I agree with all of you that it is ridiculous that they are changing these prices. Jen I got the same thing as you. I say that I'm going off on the information that was sent to me. I will take that down there with me and deal with it then. I've decided I am going to go down there in November and play dumb. I'm going to pretend like I've never heard this stuff before. My FI is the best negotiator and he always gets what he wants (or at least partially).

I sent an inquiry to the Riu group department inquiring about group rates for my wediding group. Miguel Segura, Gabriela Fernandez and Nagheli Escobar are all in sales at Riu (Miguel in group sales and Gabriela and Nagheli in the wedding sales departments). They have each responded about different questions I have asked. They sent me the forms when I was asking for additional costs that I would incur on top of the resort and wedding ceremony fees. I am not sure but I think the per person charge is only if we want a private reception. Semi-private do not have a fee...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
