Does anyone have an example of what their response cards said (should I ask airline?) Thanks!
give me your email address and i will send you the paperwork that i had to fill out.

Hey everyone.. Still pretty new to the forum and there is a LOT to look through here. We pretty much have it narrowed down to a Riu in Playa Del Carmen. Especially after seeing all the gorgeous pictures in this thread, we are leaning towards Riu Riveria Maya. The other one we are looking at is The Riu Palace Mexico. I have not seen much on the latter on this forum and haven't really seen any wedding pictures and I am taking this as a bad sign? Anyone knows any details that differ between the two? Any price difference or reasons you chose RRM over the Riu Palace Mexico? THanks :)

shellk - We just had our best man hold the rings and when they asked for the rings he brought them up to us.

JNagan2011 -The 2 resorts are pretty much the same except the RPRM is bigger then the RPM, I am pretty sure thats the onlt difference. There is not a gazebo at the RPM either. I am not sure about the price difference.

Mrs. McKenna - We had our wristbands on for most of our pictures and we didn't even notice them in the photos but you can take it off and they will give you a new one at the front desk.

Sorry I haven't been here for a while. Happy New Years to all of you and i can't wait for all the 2011 brides to go to the RPRM and have an awesome time!!!

ShellK - Only a few weeks to go!!! Are you excited or what!?!?!

Thanks ladies! I know, i love the gazebo too, but part of me still wants to feel the sand under my toes as I say "I do"! Oh boy, so many decisions, but I am sure whatever we go with, we'll end up loving it... Two more questions, does anyone know how popular the resort is for weddings in December. We are thinking we will most likely be going Dec 15-25 of 2010, are we going to have troubles getting the day we want? Also, do we have to be booked in our room to reserve a date or can we go to that link through the Riu Wedding page and reserve a day but book later? Thanks all, everyone is so helpful on this forum; I might just be able to plan this wedding in less then a year wink.gif

JNagan,

My fiance and I actually stayed at the Riu Mexico last January. We were able to spend time at all the other resorts and we really like Riu RM b/c it was a younger crowd. It may have just been the week we were there. Also, Mexico is older, the Riu RM was only built about 3 years ago. The pool is a lot nicer at RM too. However, besides that they are pretty much the same. We ate at both places and food was the same and the staff was the same. We saw a room and that was the same too! The price between the two is about equal, when we got back we looked it up b/c we liked Riu RM better and it was about $12 more per day.

As far as booking, you go to the website and book the date. They will send you a confirmation number. Once they give you that number you will have 60 days to book your room. So we reserved our date in November and just booked last week.

RPRM vs RiuMexico: i heard the same things that were mentioned above- RPRM is newer, nicer, and not much more expensive. Add in the gazebo and it makes for an easy wedding decision!

Wristbands- hadn't even crossed my mind! What color are they? If they're white i don't mind if everyone leaves them on. I don't remember them from any photos!

Booking- we booked with Riu as soon as we knew our date, then emailed them saying we weren't ready to book the room yet... they gave us the okay and just said to get back to them when we had our reservation... so get in touch with them and don't worry about the 60 day limit!!

Ok, so I FINALLY have the internet!!! Now I can get back in touch with the world...and my wedding planning that is! :)

I keep forgetting that we have to wear those stupid wristbands the whole time we're there. I REALLY don't want to have to wear them in pictures if they're going to stick out...but thanks Lisa for letting us know that it wasn't that big of a deal.

KimmyG- Your invites sound awesome...I really like that idea! Did you take any pics?

Shelk- You leave SO soon...I'm getting so excited for you!

Now I'm off to bed...I have my BD photo's tomorrow and have to get up super early to get there. I'm also extremely nervous and I hope they come out good! I will let you know how it goes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
