Shellk - I did look at Trip Advisor to be honest thats what made us decide on the place and also the reviews that I read here.

Lisa - Thanks about the TA info! I have never used a travel agent before but probably will do so this time. I have always used Expedia.com for any travel and the last two times that I was in Cancun and the prices there are good but no idea how they will look like 2010! We shall see :-)

Lisa- Just got to see your pictures finally! I think they look great together! I actually prefer having two different colors like that.

Samira- I don't know how many people you will be inviting, but I would definitely recommend working with a TA for everything. It might be a lot easier, especially if you have a large group of people who will be traveling. I would have never got the rates that I did without working with a TA.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for responding about the 80% thing. Maybe I'm being silly. I agree, I would like everyone to stay at the same resort as me. However, one of the nice things about the RIU is that there is a group of resorts with different price ranges. I would rather someone stay at one of the less expensive resorts than not come at all because it is too expensive. I also don't want to tell them that they MUST book at a certain resort. I just think the idea that the wedding could be cancelled is a little scary. That's just me. I always think about the worse possible scenario. I don't want to have to stress about anything else. But I'm sure all of you are right. Most guests would want to stay where you are. So you are probably fine and I would probably be fine too. Just something to think about.

SDbeachgirl-As long as 80% stay at the RPRM then it is fine. I am pretty sure you will have to pay for day passes for the ones who stay at the timeshare. I know they are really strict about the 80% rule because she requested all of my guests information about what hotel they are staying at and their arrivals/departures/names ect. and she has said it several times. Hope that helps ya!

Samira- congrats on the date! Let me know if they request any deposit from you- I personally would feel better that my date and time won't get double booked if I could put down a deposit. I haven't decided on STD's- I have seen some really cute passport ones on this forum, but Ill probably do something much easier such as a postcard or magnet. And I'm not planning on taking engagement photos so they might just be beach themed...

Desiree- 1 month to go!!! So exciting!

You should try magnet street - Product Type: Save the Date Magnets

They have beach themes and their website is so easy to use. You can upload a pic or personalize the fonts & change colors right there on the screen to see what the STD's would look like!

I used them for mine: Click the image to open in full size.

The white background you see on mine is an insert card where i put a bunch of additional info! The magnet held it up on the fridge, people loved them!

Hi everyone!!! I got a link from I think it was Tylersgirl to come here. Thank you!!! So, my name is June, getting married on December 22!!

I actually booked my trip last week, and this place looks absolutely beautiful!! I cannot wait to go there!

I ended up getting the Royal package... does anyone know what kind've bouquets they provide?? is it just the standard bouquet?

Josie, those magnets are so cute! I love them! did you end up giving them to everyone you invited or just the ones that are going?

Have you guys thought about favors? do you guys know what you're going to be handing out on the wedding day yet?? I was kinda thinking about maracas, or possibly waiting til I get to Mexico to buy them, but I have this fear that when I get there, i won't find anything I like. highly unlikely, but you never know..

wow.. i have a lot of reading to do on this.. 70 pages of reading.

Cheers!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
