So, I've emailed the wedding coordinator about an outside photographer, and she told me they were allowed on the property with a day pass, but I'm almost scared that at the last minte they're going to say. sorry, we changed our policy.. I'm confused why they would tell me this though.. I'm not sure if I should risk it or not.. though I do have the emails to prove it. :/ everyone on the forums are saying they're not allowed, so I'm very confused..

The WC got back to me and she fit me in for a morning appt on the last day of our stay in Mexico(Apr 16). She gave me a 1030am appt, but I requested that we meet earlier so that I can make it out to the airport at a decent time. The fact that I know she is at least available one day out of my stay is a relief.
Also, apparently all of the informational sesssion take place at the Riu Palace Mexico. I checked the website out and it appears that that hotel is not too far from the RPRM because the address for the two hotels are very similar. Does anyone know for sure if the Riu Palace Mexico is w/in walking distance from the RPRM?

ShellK--You're a spunky one! I think this is the 2nd time I've read a post by you stating "go bridezilla on em'!" I like your attitude and when it comes to our day, we better get what we want!

Josie-- Im happy you're taking care of the FireDancers/performers. I too am interested and can't wait till you get any news.

Listen guys, if there is anything you would want me to check out at the RPRM while I am there, please feel free to send me an email and I;ll do my best to assess. I figure anything you're thinking of I may need to assess myself.
That is great news that you got an appointment. Congrats! Yes, the RPRM is within walking distance of the Mexico.

Here is the update I got on Fire Dancers : I was told that having fire dancers is not possible BUT when the wedding coordinator contacts you and 1-2 months before your wedding to finalize all of the details then you can ask her again to see if anything has changed.....so TylersGirl, maybe by the end of July you can shed more light?

I wonder what the difference is or why they changed their policy...I loved that idea!

Gina- I would assume that if you have it in writing, as long as they don't specify AGAIN in writing that the photog. is not allowed....there is no way they can not allow them in on the day of your wedding! However, it's pretty risky to just go with that email and hope for the best. I personally haven't decided what to do about the Photographer yet and was probably going to use the one from the resort. Do you want me to ask for more details and see if they give me the same response? Maybe it will give you more piece of mind if they are telling multiple people that photographers are allowed with a day pass?

Also....you're getting married 4 days after me!!! That is so fun, what day are you arriving at RIU?? If you'll be there on 11-28 feel free to come to the wedding or check out any of the preperation, etc that's going on for mine, so you can have a better idea of how yours will go. Just a thought!

JPJCWedding - I'm getting married on the Wednesday, December 2 @ 4, and I'm arriving on your wedding date!!!!.... You're getting married at the Gazebo right? you must be sooo excited.

Yeah, if you guys could email them and see what they say to you, might give me some piece of mind. I was soo excited when they told me i could bring an outsider photographer onto the grounds for the day, I just don't want to put a deposit down for a photographer, and then find out 2 or 3 months before that they won't allow me to...

Thanks sooo much!!!! :) :)

hi guys,

it is great news that you got your appt.it may not last as long as you wanted it to but you will get your queries sorted out if you go ready with all of your info.are you booking it when you are there?

gina, with regards to the outside photographer i now it,s not the same but our guests were going to stay at one of the other hotels in the resort and we was going to get them a day pass.i think they do let anyone in with a day pass.

josie,it is a little disappointing about the fire danncers but if you do want them ask again like you say nearer the time.its good that you and gina get married soo close to each other you can compare.

i have a really bad hangover today the only thing that could cheer me up is my wedding pack arriving.does everything get sorted with the wc before you get to the resort?i assumed that everything got sorted when you met them on your arrival.thats good b/c at least you do have exciting things to do and also you don,t have to spend hours with them when you get there wasting sunbathing time.

xx

Msbettybernier -

While you are in your meeting at the Riu, would it be too much trouble for you to get some info about what exactly their outside photographer policy is? It seems alot of us are confused about it. My TA has suggested that she do all the communitcating with the Riu, and says that when she inquired about it, she basically got an email with the FAQ page of their website. It was my understanding that if your photographer is a guest of your wedding (I'm planning on having mine stay for 4 nights is she's permitted to take photos), they are free to take whatever pictures they like just like the rest of your guests. I think Jaime, who started this thread, had 2 guests that were photographers and they were allowed to photograph her wedding. Also, I didn't think they allowed photographers in with a guest pass, but now they do? Maybe it's because they took the photos out of the 2010 packages. It just seems like we can't get a clear answer, it would be interesting to see what they say when asked face to face.

Also, could you please let me know, if you get a chance to go into both Boto Fogo and Chilis, what they're decorated like? Just the colors and the centerpieces they have on the tables, stuff like that. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to bring additional decorations or if we could just leave them be.

Thank you soooooo much!

Update, my WC info appt has been moved up 1 day, so I dont have to meet w/ WC on the day I fly back home! Perfect. Not feeling rushed.

ShellK- I am not booking while out there there. Will do so when I get back home and coordinate w/ my travel agent. My cousin who just had a DW at the Riu stated that working w/ a TA to organize her trip led to her and hubby receiving free incentives based on the amt of ppl that booked.

Chloe- 1. Decor of Bogo and Chili's; and 2. the policy regarding outside photo/videographers.---No prob!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
