Aw- Thanks Guys! :) ShellK- If you really wanted the 14th (not sure how bad you want it?) You may be able to get married on sunday via "symbolic" ceremony... My FI & I are getting "technically" married @ a courthouse before we leave because its such less hassel! Nobody knows except our parents, and they told me the Symbolic Ceremony looks exactly the same. We plan to always celebrate our anniversary on the 28th (day we're getting married @ RIU). Just wondered if you knew about this option.

I know it sounds kinda un-romantic, but it was perfect for us & a lot easier, plus no one will no (except you guys) anyway! Plus, we want to spend our time in Mexico vacationing and not hasseling with having to translate marriage docs. into spanish, etc. etc....

So I am really bummed.

My fiance and I are flying down to the Riu Palace RM and will be staying there for 3 days. The main purpose for our trip is to assess the hotel and meet w/ the WC for an informational session re our potential wedding at RPRM. My procrastination really got the best of me bc I just contacted the WC yesterday to schedule the informational on any day betw Apr13-16. She got back to me in the afternoon and stated that april is their busiest month, but that she would be able to meet with me on Apr 25th at 200pm. Lordy! My FI is going to kill me if he finds out I dropped the ball on this one. I have to salvage this....I sent her a second email begging for a meeting, please cross your fingers for me guys....I hope she gets back to me w/ better news.

Josie, ShellK---I too plan on getting married at a court house b4 the actual big day. There's just too much hoopla to go thru in order to do the real thing here in Mexico. My cousin had her DW at the Riu Palace Punta Cana last Aug and she did the same thing, that is, got married at a court house or city hall(not sure which one) in NY b4 going dwn to Punta CAna for her actual wedding. She had the non-recognized ceremony in Punta CAna, but it was officiated by a Minister and no one was the wiser. Except for a couple of us in her wedding party.

MSBetty- Oh No! I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. I bet you anything that once you're there they will find time for you! Plus, you'll still be able to scout out the resort extensively, so it wouldn't be a total waste! The WC's at RIU seem really reasonable, so I'm hoping they meet with you....good luck!

Also glad to hear there are others getting married before hand! I felt kinda strange about it at first, but now I think it's the perfect solution. My travel agent also told me that it was very common and no one ever knows the difference! Keep us posted on what happens with your trip!

For others: I updated the "Directions" portion of my website yesterday, with info on how to get to the RIU from Cancun Airport. You can print the page, or if you want me to Print it, PDF it, & email to you it's no problem! Most of our guests are booking packages with round trip transportation, but we had a few stragglers asking for this info, and you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to figure out directions in Mexico! Just thought I'd share!

msbettyb,

try not to get too stressed it will all work its self out.if i was you after lots of begging i would go bridezilla on them and explain that if they do not see you they will be turning down a wedding and lots of money.im sure they can find a little time for you.or can you not ask to see the hotel manager insted then they will find time for you.and josie is right i am sure once you are there they will see you.

Ok good news guys! You all must have been praying for me!

The WC got back to me and she fit me in for a morning appt on the last day of our stay in Mexico(Apr 16). She gave me a 1030am appt, but I requested that we meet earlier so that I can make it out to the airport at a decent time. The fact that I know she is at least available one day out of my stay is a relief.

Also, apparently all of the informational sesssion take place at the Riu Palace Mexico. I checked the website out and it appears that that hotel is not too far from the RPRM because the address for the two hotels are very similar. Does anyone know for sure if the Riu Palace Mexico is w/in walking distance from the RPRM?

ShellK--You're a spunky one! I think this is the 2nd time I've read a post by you stating "go bridezilla on em'!" I like your attitude and when it comes to our day, we better get what we want!

Josie-- Im happy you're taking care of the FireDancers/performers. I too am interested and can't wait till you get any news.

Listen guys, if there is anything you would want me to check out at the RPRM while I am there, please feel free to send me an email and I;ll do my best to assess. I figure anything you're thinking of I may need to assess myself.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
