How did it work out with bringing the bags to the front desk each day. Did they distribute them properly?

They did a great job for us!  Only 1 hiccup - on the late shift - 1 late arrival (after 11 pm) and the desk missed it.    No complaints when since we handed out close to 40 bags!  I would drop off the bags each morning  & give a little tip for distributing.  I gave them $1 a bag for tip.  I had welcome tags on them with my guests names.  The one girl I worked with at the front desk liked going through that days check ins with my guest list & made a note on their check in docs that they had a bag there for them.

Amberya17 - how exciting!!! We must plan to meet up at some point! What days will you and your guests be there? Dennis and I will be there from November 6-10 then we are off to st. Lucia for our honeymoon. Most of our guests will be there from November 8-11 so I'm sure you'll have a few on-lookers;). Just to warn you, we have a little bit of a wild group coming along...it's bound to be a good time! I didn't think about having the front desk distribute welcome bags...was thinking of sending my brothers door to door. Lol! Maybe I should rethink that one! Elissa, our luggage tags and thank you for booking materials all arrived now...don't be surprised if they look very similar to yours...that is if I ever get around to posting my planning thread! I absolutely loved going through your details. You really did and amazing job! Alrighty, I'm sure ill be chatting with you ladies again soon but in the meantime, have a super week! ~Shannon (& Dennis)

Thanks Elissae. That is so nice to know. I was worried about if people would actually get the bags in a timely manner, but I'll go with this approach as well.

Is anyone having trouble with adventure photos? We are trying to finalize our 100 wedding photos from our May wedding and NO ONE will return e mails. I have sent 1 e mail to Peter, 3 to Sergio, 1 to our wedding cord Ericka and alsoosted on their Facebook. Any advice?

Hello everyone! This thread has been super useful! I am still stressing out (greatly!) though :(  We are planning to get married in January, 2014.  We are planning to do things a bit differently:  We want to get married in the local catholic church in playa del carmen.  Therefore, we have been told we would not be eligible for any of the "wedding packages" at the RPRM since we are not having the "ceremony" there.  Basically, we would then be paying for a private event.  That being said, it seems like Chillis is the best option.  Does anyone have pictures of the reception set up?  Has anyone done the same (wedding in church, reception in RPRM)?  Was the cocktail hour worth it?

I talked to Paola, the event coordinator, and she mentioned that even if it was a private event, we could only have 4 hours max in the restaurant.  Was anyone able to extend this? I feel like this wouldnt be enough! It seems that the 1250 DJ price is pretty heavy for 4 hours, when 2 of those hours will probably be spent on eating, speeches, etc.  Can anyone provide any insight? plsssss.

Thanks :)

We just got back a week ago from our wedding at the Riu. The wedding turned out great, our wedding coordinator was Fabi. I was a little nervous that something would not turn out but they really did a great job. We did not have any issues at all when it came to our wedding day. The renova spa did an awesome job on my hair and makeup! I would highly recommend using them, I was very impressesed and so were my 3 bridesmaids. We also used Adventure Photography and I am soooo glad we did! They too did an awesome job, we decided to buy all of the photos that they took. Agni was there the whole day from the Spa to the reception taking pictures of us and our guests. We also did a TTD session which was fun! Overall everything really was perfect when it came to the wedding. The only downside was during our stay at the Riu my mom had her iPad stolen out of her room which put a damper on her vacation so just remember to lock your stuff whenever you leave the room. And dont leave extra room keys laying around in your room as someone took their extra key out of there room then entered the room when they were out to dinner.

I've just reserved for my wedding group at RIU Palace RM!  Getting married April 26, but the ceremony and recpetion will both be off the resort.  We'll probbaly do a couple other events on the resort like rehearsal dinner and maybe a welcome party.  Can't wait.

I'm thinking of OOT bags at this resort.  Do the minibars have any snacks in them?  I know its all inclusive but sometimes it's nice to have small things like chips or crackers in the room.  I thought I would include them if not already provided.  Everything I can find about the minibar just focuses on the bottle dispensors!

I am getting ready to book my wedding for June 2014, and I'm so excited! I am just so anxious and stressing right now because the RIU website gives little detail about actual wedding details. If we are able to do a semi private dinner and reception, is the most expensive wedding package necessary? If I don't want a DJ will they still provide sound equipment for an iPod? How do you get the music you want for the ceremony? And I would also love some reviews and prices of the photographer on site. I am terrified that I'll get my pics and they won't be good. Sorry I'm such a worrier!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
