Hi MrsShoreytobe!  I am unsure how Botafogo would set up their dance floor/space, however with Chili's, Erika had given me 2 options.  I chose to have our dance area parallel to the beach as oppose to the left of the salad/fruit bars in the restaurant. Here are some pics.... Here is Bill & I entering Chili's                                             LL        Here we are passing the first salad/fruit bar station. Our dance floor was straight ahead of us in this picture (parallel to the beach).  The other dance floor option was to have it behind us in this pic. LL     I had our head table be just for the 2 of us.  It was in front of us here in this photo.  It was in one corner of restaurant.  They have rectangle tables in Chili's that hold up to 10 people per table.  I had 7 tables.  So there was Table 7 which was the table in the picture above (my friend Kelly in the purple dress is there).  As soon as we passed her, we took a hard right and headed toward our head table.    The pic below was tables 3, 4, 5 & 6 (2 tables to the left of us in this photo and 2 tables to the right of us).     LL         Our head table LL Our cake table was to the left of our table LL   Further to the left of the cake table were 2 tables (1 & 2) for family.  I do not have a picture to capture (sorry!)   The dance floor- the DJ has his back to the beach LL   Anoter picture of the dance floor - a great breeze came through...the bar was set up just in front of me here in the picture below.   LL
this was awesome thank u!!!!!!!

A question for those of you who wanted a more private ceremony.. In looking at all pics and places we could have the ceremony, all areas seem quite open to public/on the beach around a lot of people. Have any of you had a ceremony (we have around 50 people) in an area u weren't swarmed with people ? Lol :(

The Gazebo is a bit more private than the beach.  We had 65 guests.  It's off to the side of the pool - right by the Spa.  Of course pool folk watched in the outskirts, but it was kinda nice since depending on how long you are there prior to the wedding...you get to know a lot of the guests from socializing at the pool and they are excited to get a glimpse of you.  Hope that helps.  I am sure past brides will chime in.  :-)

We had 65 guests and we did the same scenario.  We were married this past April.  We had a 4pm civil ceremony, cocktails are Lirico & reception at Chili's.  I would just ask Erika about sunsets in the fall.  I know it gets darker earlier in the fall so just make sure you will have plenty of sunlight after your 5PM ceremony for beach pictures (if that is what you are planning).  The cermony usually takes about 20 minutes or so.

At Chili's they offered rectangle tables that seat 10 people.  I was not going to do escort cards / assigned seating at first until I went to a wedding that did not have it and it was a nightmare saving a spot at a table.  Since I had a bad experience with that, I had escort cards to make it simpler on our guests as oppose to making it a free for all.  Erika set up a rectangle table right when you entered Chili's with our Guest Book & our escort cards which held our maraca favors.  Here is a picture of ours:

Six months will FLY BY so you are doing good here with your planning.  How exciting.  I wish I could do it all over again!!  Best of luck!

Hi Elissa,

This is wonderful information!  Thank you so much for your reply.  Your pictures are fabulous...it looks like y'all had a great time.  This makes my nerves settle and my excitement go through the roof.

Not sure if you shared information about a photographer previously but who did you use at your wedding?  We had a friend all lined up to do our photography and she just found out she is pregnant and can no longer go with us.  I am currently looking at the Cancun Live Weddings and Adventure Photo packages but would love to get some other opinions/ideas.

Thanks again,

Shannon

I wanted to double check your total guest number! You said you had 7 tables (which could hold up to 10). So what was guest count for you guys? We may have 50 so I just want to be sure this location could handle us lol!

And how wonderful about the welcome dinner, saw the pics you posted below this first post, that's awesome!

Shannon - I am glad I can settle your nerves.  It will be fine!  It's only natural to worry, but I tell you it will be smooth sailing.

We used Adventure Photo at the resort.  I worked with Sergio, he is the Chief Photographer at the resort.  Love him!  Our pictures are perfect!  We had a video of the ceremony & beach footage as well - love it!  Well worth the money!  All the pictures I have been posting so far are what they took at the ceremony, etc.

When I booked them, I orginally dealt with Petar Gachevski - he is the Regional Manager.  His email is pgachevski@vallarta-adventures.com  Please tell him I said hello if you should reach out to him for pricing.

Please let me know if I can assist further!  xoxo

Yes, I had 7 tables.  I had 63 guests & Bill & I made 65.  (We had a few last minute cancellations - 7 to be exact, within the last 2 months prior to the wedding - things happen - no biggie).  Luckily they all had the travel insurance.

Based on table assignments this is how it worked out...I gave Erika an Excel Sheet listing the Table #'s & the guests name sitting at each.  They set up all the tables accordingly.

Table 1:  8 people

Table 2:  9 people

Table 3:  9 people

Table 4:  10 people

Table 5:  10 people

Table 6:  8 people

Table 7:  9 people

Head Table:  Bill & I

You will have plenty of room for 50 at Chili's!!!   The service is AMAZING!  They will cater to you, big time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
