I think those pictures from del sol of them dancing on the beach at cocktail hour has me sold. That is awesomet hat you two are salsa dancers, that is so fun :)

We booked our flights last night. They were the cheapest I've seen them so I jumped on the ball. I'm still waiting to here back from Wendy about our hotel. I'm getting more excited, but more stressed at the same time. MIL is one unhappy camper I've come to realize she's just never going to be happy with what we've chosen. Makes me pretty upset, but everyone else in our lives seems to be happy & we are happy. Thats all that matters right? Also a few of our guests backed out, saying we picked a top rated hotel and saying they were shocked about the price. Oh well. We are the first to book & I hope everyone will follow suit :)

I'm taking my mom tomorrow to look at wedding dresses, hopefully I walk out with one. I think i already know, but she hasn't seen it yet! So it's becoming more real by the minuet. I emailed nancy about ceremony types, because I want a sand ceremony, and unsure whether they do those or not? If anyone knows let me know :)

Hope everyone is doing happy planning :)

Personally i really believe the saying "you cant please all the people all the time"

We had 5 guests. My mum and dad, hubbys sister and hubby and their baby. Everyone said it was to expensive. which we knew but it was our wedding day and if we had done anything else it would kind of defeat the object of it being our wedding day!! Yes we were upset at certain people not being able to come but right from the start we had always said if it was just the two of us then we would go and do it anyway, so i think we were lucky having the 5 come :-)
Luckily no-one was funny with us about it, but we still would have done it even if they were. After all it was OUR wedding, we were getting married to make a commitment to each other not anyone else....
Why get married somewhere everyone else wants you to get married? Its not their wedding.....Your not getting married for them....
It sounds harsh i know and dont get me wrong family and friends are very very important to me but so was marrying my husband how and where we wanted to get married!!!
We absolutley made the right decision and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Whats new ladies? Any progresses made? Anything exciting been happening?

I bought my dress the other day. However, I'm so indecisive. I'm not sure I picked the right one, it was between two of them and I think I chose wrong. I am not able to return, only exchange, so I will probably find time to go back and play dress up again.

I'm stressing over friends now. I though they would all be so excited to book, but everyone wants to play the "waiting" game. I know they have plenty time to book, I just don't want any of them to not come. Thats the main reason we stuck with our plan destination wedding. We asked all our friends how they felt about it, and everyone was on board. I know I need to give them time, I'm just one impatient person.

I contacted Nancy, and she said usually she starts answering questions around the 4-5 months mark before weddings. She answered a few of my questions that I had though. I wanted to know about the sand ceremony, and she said that it was doable, so i'm excited for that. <3

So I do not forget all my "2 cents" I thought I'd tag all the posts I wanted to respond to.

Shay - good question - I have not thought about that - perhaps I will wait until the reception since we will have the resort DJ there.  Although, I am still unsure whether we will go with the mariachi band for cocktail hour...since you salsa dance - you should do it at cocktail hour with the Mariachi Band!  That would be romantic, sexy & HOT!  Your guests would love it...especially starting slow & then stepping it up! smile72.gif

Hey Em - I just sent Nancy an email with a few questions...she was good with answering them.  Gave me an idea about menu costs etc.  Sad to say they do not allow the Sky Lanterns.  Oh well, one less thing to buy and lug down there!  haha

Congrats on booking your flights - one less thing to worry about!  Do not worry about what other people think or say.  It's YOUR Wedding and you cannot make everyone happy.  I am sorry to hear your MIL is not a happy camper...has she come around at all??  As far as some of your guests saying  something about you picking a top rate hotel, would they rather you pick a dive?  COME ON!  If they do the math - where else can you stay at that rate per day?  It's not only a place to sleep/shower - it's ALL-INCLUSIVE - FOOD 24 HOURS A DAY & ALL YOUR DRINKS (a lot of top shelf booze, too!)  It may just be sticker shock.  People will come around!

Nothing too much to report except I am now up to 40 peeps booked (this includes Bill, Jake & myself)!  We are super excited.  We have at least another 10-16 people who have told us they are planning on coming, they just have not booked yet. I am glad we sent our invitations early - just got them out of the way!  We knew it would motivate people to either Book right away/decline right away/ or at least think about it & see if they can make it work.

My BFF & I are going to put together my Survival Kits tomorrow night.  I think I have everything I want to put in them.  I will post pics when done.

Do not stress over people booking - they will!  It just takes a few to start the process and then it spreads like wild fire.  I was the same way at first...my close friends booked right away & then it caught on.  I think because our dates are next year, some people think they have time.  I bet once fall comes, people will start booking.  They are starting summer, not thinking about next year's vacation.  Did you do a wedding website?  Maybe get them motivated with that?  I did...and as people book - I posted a picture of them!  It's kind of like our FB page of who's coming to Mexico!

Great news on narrowing down a dress...do you have pics you'd want to share with us to get some feedback?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
