I think I have come up with some questions!

Our wedding package includes 10 guests only. I was wondering if anyone knows if we can just pay the additional $20 per person or if they will make you upgrade at some point (It seems we have MANY more people than expected). I am not interested in all of the extras in the other packages and it will be more cost effective to just add $ for each person over 10 count. And....is the $20 for cake/sparkeling wine AND to be a part of the semi-private reception??

After reading through some of this thread today (due to my lack of motivation at work), the packages in the past seem to be much different. For the cocktail hour following the ceremony I see that to include app's is an additonal $14 (?) per person? But, is the cocktail hour free?? And it also looks like you can provide an I Pod and they will play music for you if you want??

I am not going to do a private reception following the ceremony, just sticking to the semi private dinner. I am thinking of moving over to the Riu Tequila for the Disco, I am not going to spend the extra money there for a reception due to the at home reception. I am also thinking some of the older people may not want to stay up late and party and this will give them an option......I have seen that other people have done that as their reception....any thoughts??

You know the stress is all part and parcel of it.... you will look back one day and think.... eh? why did i worry about that? or why did i worry about this? but it will all add to the experience of wedding planning :-) and on the day it will all be worth it x

xx

You guys are a major help in reducing most of it. I like that I can count on you ladies through this process!!! :) But you're also right it's all about the experience of planning & it'll all fall together in the end!

We just booked and stayed in a basic room, apparently it was an upgrade but i think what made it an up grade was it was a view of the fountains near the Kiosk rather than a view of bushes!! We were glad of the view as i like to sit and watch the world go by in a morning with a coffee :-) but weren't bothered about the jacuzzi (there is a mini jacuzzi built into the bath) as we would have paid for something we would have prob only used once!! Hubby used the mini jacuzzi in bath once (photo opportunity) he said it was OK & its very loud :-)

We had ours in the lobby bar to the back, it was perfect, set back slightly from other hotel guests but not cut off completely..... I dont think i would have wanted it anywhere else!!! :-)

Jess - which package is that?  I spoke with Nancy this week & confirmed that the Royal Package covers 20 people for 2013 & the Caprice Package covers 40 people for 2013.  Although I have over 40 people, they will allow me to stay at the Royal Package and not upgrade to Caprice.  It's still cheaper for me per person to stay at Royal Package then upgrading.

The package you purchase includes everything it lists as well as a semi-private dinner for the allotted # of people it indicates.  If you go over the allotted # - they charge you the $20 per person rate for the additional people - which covers the wine/cake and the actual semi-private dinner.  So even though it's a all inclusive resort - you are still playing a price per plate once you go over your allotted group.  Also note - if you stay at the semi-private dinner route for your reception - and you have over 30 people - you will have to go to the later seating which is 8:45 pm.

We booked the jacuzzi suite for a few reasons:

1.  We've been to this resort before & stayed in a Junior Suite so this time we wanted to stay oceanfront

2.  It's our wedding/honeymoon -  not having a AHR - we work hard - why not?

3.  Bill's son, Jake who will be 16 when we go will be staying with us the first nights at the resort so we want space  & some privacy.  He will move into his grandmother's room when she arrives.

4.  We figure we can entertain there - happy hours/night caps/ family & friends can enjoy the oceanview

5.  We will have all my OOT stuff to put together before guests come/decor / my dress, etc.

Hey Girl -

We stayed there April 2010.  It's all a matter of preference.  I know of 2 spots they offer the cocktail hour.  Both are semi-private.  One is outside and the other is inside.  Lirico is outside in the courtyard to the right when you come out of the main resort lobby into the the grounds.  They can set aside some tables there for you.  Or there is La Habana which is the lobby bar which is beautiful & air conditioned!  They have tables across from the bar that they can set up/reserve for you.

Good question for Nancy though - they may have some other options!

We planned on just going with the "Free 2013 package". It's not really free but it is not near what the other packages were. In the beginning we were only supposed to have a few guests. But adding $20 per person, even up to 30 additonal people is still cheaper than going with any of the other packages.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
