Hi Nic,

My name is Elissa and I am recently engaged!  I am so super excited!!  I am planning a RPRM wedding for April 2013.  I vacationed at this resort with 4 couples back in April 2010 & absolutely loved it!!!  I cannot wait to go back.

I have not set a date yet for I am waiting to confirm the Easter/School break for 2013.  My FI's son will be a sophomore in high school when we go & we will work around his school schedule.  The school will not guarantee the break will be the week after Easter until late March.  UUGGHH!

I have been reading through this thread tonight and was so touched by the friendships you all developed while planning your weddings!!!  How amazing!!!

I had a question for you regarding civil ceremonies.  What day did you arrive and what day did you wed?  I know they require you be there 3 business days prior.  I am thinking I'd rather marry earlier in the week than later...maybe arrive on a Thursday and marry Tues or Wed?  Were they strict on this 3 day rule?

Thanks for any insight you can give.  Congrats to you!!!

Elissa

Hi Elissa,

Congrats on your engagement!

We are getting married at RPRM on November 17 of this year. We are not getting legally married there (will do it at the courthouse when we get home; we didn't want to deal with all of the paperwork and stuff in Mexico). We are arriving on Friday the 9th and then our wedding is 8 days later on the 17th. We are encouraging our wedding guests to spend the week with us prior to the wedding so that by the time the wedding comes around everyone should know one another! :-)

I have heard the the 3 day rule is strict and that you do have to follow it.

  • 1 month later...

additional post since i cant edit the last one - well i asked via yahoo answers for someone to try to access the site, and 3 people did it no problem (and i couldnt access at all). today i also had problems with a newspaper site and even here so i guess its my computer/internet server thats the issue rather than the specific websites. sigh. i wish i was a technological type person and knew how to solve these issues on my own!!

regardless...the times when i *can* manage to access the riu RM palace website it looks fantastic...im pretty sure its my  newest no.1 choice! (old choice sandos didnt work as it was too far from xcaret my wedding venue)

Hola RPRM Ladies,

I wanted to share some tips and ideas for your wedding in this spectacular location:

1. Wedding Location: Gazebo is definitely the most popular ceremony spot because of it's privacy and green surroundings. You might want to add a dash of color to the set-up...think: rose petals or colorful tropical umbrellas, fans and flowers.

2. You are getting married in Mexico so do consider having a Mariachi Band. Your guests will enjoy it and I'm sure you will too!!!

3. Don't let anyone talk you out of having your ceremony start time be anything but 1.5 hours prior to sunset!! This will save your guests from mid-day heat and give you great light for your ceremony, and even better sunset light for your beach portraits!!

4. Since this hotel works with set seating times for dinner (thus reception). Make sure you plan a cocktail hour in between. There is an area on the beach full of palm trees in front of the Chilli's Restaurant....great spot for a cocktail hour and maybe even first dances!! An extra fee may apply for this, just check with your wedding coordinator.

5. If you have a small group (less than 30), ask for the Mezzanine Section at the Chilli's Restaurant. It's private and ocean side : ) Couldn't get any better.

Last but not least, remember your day will be spectacular simply because of the love you surround yourself with, regardless of the details!  Know that something in the plans may have a glitch - let's face it, what plans are ever flawless? Just plan enough to allow yourself to be stress free for your special day, but be flexible enough to let whatever happens, happen.

Good luck in the planning and happy to answer your questions ; )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
