Hi everyone,

My wedding is in just a few weeks...we leave February 15th, and our wedding is February 19th.  We have 90 people coming and staying at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya!!!  Has any had a group that big?  I am concerned about the extra costs or if they will be able to accomadate a group that big...well, they don't have a choice.

Virginia- No my dress didn't get ruined. I still have it, of course it would need to be dry cleaned which I still haven't done yet either. The Tulum Extreme we did I think was about a $100/person, but include all the activities and lunch. The half day trip I think was only about $40/person and only goes to Tulum. We had booked all our trips through apple vacations so we just booked the trips with our apple rep who is stationed in hotel. If you are booking so type of package they all have people in the lobby to book excurions. You can also go right into town and book excursions. Also, if you want to go to Tulum only with a larger group you could probably just hire a transportation service to take your whole group too.

There is 5th avenue to buy things which is about a 15 min walk or 5 min cab ride like carolyn said, but there is another little place to the left of the hotel. It's about a 5 min walk that you can buy things at too. Walmart is right outside Playa about a 10 min cab ride too.

Jrb-We only had about 54 people, but they had no problem handling it and I'm sure they won't have any problem handling yours either.

Virginia-Yes there is one in everyones room. There is so much alcohol throughout the resort to be honest we never even had any of ours. I don't think there is any specific refill policy. I know my cousin finished something and it was replaced the next time they came. Room service is all inclusive also and 24 hours/day.

Yes. I've been emailing her the week. It seems like there are so many extra charges! $25 pp for a private dinner. $14 pp for food at the cocktail. $700 for a fabc huppa on the beach. Then they wanted $15 pp for extra cake and sparkling wine. I don't really want either!! We have 87 people, so it's gonna get crazy expensive. Plus the cost of the wedding package. Ugh. Oh well. It's what I gotta do. I also got a price list for calypso photos. Also a rip-off.

JRB - I hear you. I sat down with my Mom to finalize budget and look at how much we've already spend versus what to expect. When I picked a destination wedding I never thought it would add up to as much as it is.  Oh well. I am trying to find out from Nancy how much it costs to rent their sound system. Anyone know?

Also, does anyone have a good idea for a gift for my Dad? I got my Mom an embroidered hankerchief (thanks for the idea Lindsey!) that says "Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, forever your daughter. Thank you for teaching me to love with all my heart...[signed with my nickname and the date]." I need something small for my dad too...ideas?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
