Nicola- your dress is gorgeous :) :) Our legal day was great! Even though we had never met the judge, he did a great job and said very good things. We then celebrated by going to dinner to our favorite restaurant, also the restaurant we went to after he proposed, and we ended up having the same server so it was kind of funny.

I had a girls night in from my bachelorette party on Friday, and then one of my bestfriends/bridesmaid bachelorette party last night. SO much fun :)

Well 22 days until I am really married :) I cannot believe how fast time has gone. It seems like just yesterday we got engaged! With my bachelorette party and showers done, this next week the suitcases come out to begin packing. That is going to make it feel even more real!

Hi ladies..

Some not so good news.

My FI and I have decided to postpone the wedding.

BUT... we are keeping the discounted group rate and we still will be going the week of June 23-29... and we have plenty of rooms still open in our group rate.

So if any of you would like to join our group and take a site visit to RIU before your wedding....

at the discounted group rate... send me a PM and I will give you more details!

I am also planning on selling my wedding jewelry... which is very beachy. I will post a pic up soon.

Thanks, and I must say it's been a pleasure being a part of this forum. :-)

My fiance and I are getting married at the Riu Palace May 14th.  I am starting to get nervous about not knowing all of the details about the wedding.  If anyone could give me some insight it would be great.  We are having a semi-private reception but haven't picked a restaurant yet.  I am wondering how the semi-private reception works.  Can we bring our own music, can we do all the traditional dances...first dance, father and bride, mother and groom?  Also if you have any suggestions on which restaurants are better that would help.  Thank you so much.

Just had my phone meeting with Nancy the wedding coordinator yesterday. Shell, to answer your question, no you can't have your own music and dancing if you do the semi-private dinner reception. But I think you may be able to rent out the disco hall next door? I didn't ask about that. For that reason, we have decided to pay the extra $25 per person to have a private reception. It gets us the restaurant from 7-11 and you can choose to have a DJ for $1700 (have heard several prices actually) or rent their sound system and use your own CD or ipod for $4-500. I am not sure what to do about that, because this whole time I had thought bringing your own music was totally free. We chose to do our dinner at Chili's.

The other added cost that I wasn't aware of is that they have changed the wedding packages for 2011, so the Royal Package which I had signed up for months ago, which included everything for 40 people, will only be for 15 people in 2011. So, I have exactly 40 people so I can either pay $300 for the extra people to have cake or upgrade to the Caprice package, which includes 40 people now. I just didn't know if a mani/pedi and hairstyle was worth an extra $800 for that package.

In addition, Nancy keeps giving me different prices for the same things and on the phone she still isn't sure of herself. Other than that though, I am happy with our plan. I know from all the past brides on here I shouldnt sweat the small stuff and I'm mostly just sooo excited. 51 days for me!

Does anyone know if the Lobby Bar or Lyrico Bar is better than the other for the cocktail hour? I am confused now because I think I've heard good things about both. I'm guessing either place would be fine. But if you have any input, please let me know!

Hey ladies,

I just got back from mexico and let me tell you it was amazing!!!

We had the royal package with 27 guests and I couldnâ€t really ask for more.  My one recommendation is that if you have chair bows and want them back make sure  you have someone to collect them after the ceremony or they will get lost! They set up a rehearsal dinner for us the night before and the reception was semi-private at Chilies. We were told if we have had our own ipod/speakers we could bring it to the reception but we forgot.. oh well.  Overall everything was great!

Please let me know if you have any specific questions!

Lynn

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
