I did a brochure layout with basically what everyone has on their website. I also put information about what the all-inclusive really includes, about how to book, who to contact to book, and some of the rules. (like telling everyone they have to stay at the resort). Just because I sent the save-the-dates and no one responded except my immediate family.

The websites do look great girls!

Hey girls I'm new on this site but 1 fabulous thing my fiance and I are doing is buying plactic 16 oz stadium cups for our guests.  They're SO CUTE, green cups w/ a white palm tree on them and my fiance and I's names and the date.  We saw wedding party's do this when we visited 1 1/2 years ago and it was really neat to be able to tell who was with "THE Wedding"!

Our wedding is on November 11th 2010 at The Riu Palace but we have been there before and all the repeat visitors bring thier own cups.  The ones they provide at the pool/bars...are 10-12oz plastic juice cups that they uses at dorms and stuff.  If you bring your own cups you don't have to go back to the bar as often! :)

We are also using them as welcome presents and stuffing them w/ a welcome letter and tons of crystal light/propel singles packets!  They have soda and water in the room but trust me the variety will come in handy for your guests!

Super Cheap!!

50 cups-$72

100 cups-$90

Yeah, I'm fine. More like BM drama. One of my cousins I asked to be a BM has been ignoring my phone calls and FB messages for more than a month. I've been trying to confirm if she's going to be in it or not. But not even the decency to call me back!

Then, after I made that posting, she has the gall to ask me "what happened" and if I'm "ok." !!!! Avoiding drama, I just wrote her an email saying I was fine, then I asked her again if she planned on being in the bridal party.

Now she's giving me excuse after excuse after excuse not to go spend the money to come to my wedding. I understand some people being financially stressed, but when I was her BM for her wedding less than a YEAR AGO, I spent $1,500 on her, between gifts, the expensive dress and shoes she wanted, & the plane ticket to come to her wedding in NJ more than 2100 miles away from where I live. I am not even asking anyone for gifts! I did it without a question because I thought she and I were close.

it's just disappointing.

Oh no this is awful, cant believe she asked you if everything was ok..... good for you in keeping your cool, but i would be very inclined to say something, as this is supposed to be one of the happiest times of your life, you dont need anyone to put a dampner on it especially someone who you thought was close to you.... Thinking of you... Fingers crossed for you that your disapointment fades xox Hugs xox

I figured it was something like that. Sorry...that's tough. Remember what all the girls are saying - it's your day! Don't let one person ruin it or the experience leading up to it...

So I was all excited that our rates had dropped - well that was until I went onto the website and saw that we could have booked directly through the Riu for the same price. I feel like of stupid for putting down all this money to reserve rooms and a "special rate" that's not so special...when I talked to my travel agent about it she said that we still get other perks wtih the destinationweddings.com package, but for some reason I am not exactly buying it all now...oh well. At least with DW.com my guests have the option of the payment plans, which I know a lot of them are taking advantage of...

Happy Friday ladies!

V- I wouldn't worry about it, at least you didn't find out the prices were cheaper then I'd be mad. My 84 year old grandmother is still working and a travel agent for 50 years (literally) so I had no choice but to go with her. I was sort of disappointed that I wasn't getting any perks, but it doesn't seem like anyone gets many perks anymore. Also, being she is my grandmother she has worked her butt off for each one of my guests that have booked!

Haha ready for this Linds- according to our contract we get a welcome sign, a welcome drink for the group, a fruit basket and wine, private check in and personalized assistance from the hotel staff…arenâ€t these things EVERYONE who checks into the Riu gets!?!? The ONLY perk I see is that with every 25 rooms paid for the 26th room is free, however weâ€re not going to have that many people going…

I shouldn't complain - our TA is doing a great job. It just seems strange because when we decided to go with the "group rate" I guess I was just expecting some sort of discount or something...oh well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
