dana- i didn't want to travel with a bunch of stuff either so this is my way of still giving my guests things they will use/enjoy, but not going over the top. I would love to, but I don't want to have an additional stress/expense at this point! Plus none of my guests have been to a destination wedding before so they have no expectations.

I think I missed you, but CONGRATS on your legal day KimmyG!! Have a goregeous wedding, and we cannot wait to hear back!

As for OOT bags, I am not doing them either. We mailed out shotglasses and tequila for our STD's, doing luggage tags a few weeks before, upon arrival they'll get personalized cups and welcome book, Welcome dinner personalized hot sauce (FI and I are hot sauce freaks!) then for wedding day/ dinner I got fans and maracas.

So all in all I thought that this was enough to make our guests feel special, and it really helped on the packing list. I don't know how others do it with all of those OOT bags and traveling? Oh, and I don't know if I said this here before- I went on a cruise wedding and got a small OOT bag with the usual stuff (sunscreen, chapstick, hangover kit) and didn't use any of it because I had already brought all of that with me. SO of course no offense to anyone that does them- I think they're a great thought- but I personally didn't think they were necessary.

Darn. Now I want to do tip/key holders. FI would probably kill me though.smile67.gif

Do you have pics of yours sammysgirl?

Hi Ladies! Sorry for the delay, but I finally arrived home at 4am this morning and have been exhaused ever since! After being away for a week and half I am so depressed to be back to reality.

Everything at RPRM was AMAZING! Our wedding day was absolutely PERFECT and none of you have anything to worry about! I will write my "formal" review by this weekend and will also find a way to post some of my pics. And just to keep everyone updated on my dinner debacle...we still couldn't get Ael to budge on the sitdown with everyone ordering off of the menu, so we decided to forget it completely and go with the International buffet, which was fine! Everyone loved the food and it ended up saving us money.

KimmyG- When are you leaving!? I'm so excited for you (and jealous...I want to go back)!!!

I'll definitely be checking back ASAP and will be happy to answer any questions that you girls have!

I will post pics of the keycard holders after this weekend! I am meeting up with a bunch of BDW girls this weekend in chicago! I do have extras of the business cards and holders that I could sell you for cheap if you want then you would just need to buy a lanard or coil keychain thing.....how many would you need?

My fiance and I are leaving for our wedding on Tuesday and will be getting married on Saturday, March 27th... I haven't been great about posting but have been reading through every post as we've planned out wedding.

We have 26 people including ourselves coming to the wedding and I've confirmed that we will be able to have dinner at Chili's and everyone can order off the menu... I freaked out about that the other day after reading some of the other posts.

We're planning on taking our guests all to Carboncitos in Playa del Carmen the night before for the groom's dinner... my fiance did all the research and is really excited about it.

As for the ceremony... we're doing is at the gazebo. I ordered the chairbows through elegant perspectives (thanks to one of the brides I saw recommended that on this site!!) My fiance found music to play while we walk down and walk back. We're then having our cocktail hour in the lobby bar... I asked Ael if we could move it to the terrace but she said something about that being for people that have over 50 guests... I'm hoping once we tell her we want the trio (for our first dance and background music) she will tell us move it outside.

As for out of town bags- I ordered the bags through JoAnn fabrics for $4.99 a piece (they're microfiber bags that have an inside pocket for valuables). My sister is screen printing them all with our palm tree logo. We ordered travel mugs through discountmugs.com and have first aid kits, advil, SPF chapstick, playing cards, crossword puzzle books and pens incuded in the bags. I also did formal invitations with a list of all of our guests and a place for everyone to put everyone else's room numbers, an itinerary and a map.

We're flying our photographer down from Minnesota but are thinking about getting the videographer...

I'll be sure to let you all know my thoughts when I return. By the way- I know some people have had some frustrations with Ael but she's been really responsive and consistent with me (possibly because the smaller number of people we have coming down).

Happy planning ladies!!! And for all those married ladies... thanks for all the advice! I could not have done this all without you!

-Jessica

Welcome home and Congratulations, Katie!!! Your new pic is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see all of your photos!

I leave on Tuesday early morning. We're excited. FI is all packed, I still need to start.

We are doing welcome bags, nothing major but a lot of ideas from this forum. We scattered the goodies between my parents and his parents to help us transport everything down there.

Any sense in creating a playlist of songs, since we aren't planning on hiring the DJ? I have no idea what I want to walk down the isle to, anything by the harpist sounds nice wink.gif

Congrats Katie, you look gorgeous! I'm so glad everything worked out in the end! My FI and I were talking last night and we officially have 44 people coming and if we have the dinner at Chili's we are going to do the buffet too so I'm glad to hear that it was good! I can't wait to hear more about it.

I'm so realived to hear that some of you aren't doing OOT bags. That makes my decision a little easier.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
