Hi Ladies! Glad to hear everyone had a nice Valentine's Day! It was actually our one-year engagement anniversary! I can't believe how fast a year went by! <3

As for my dress fitting last week...it didn't go well at all! I live in upstate NY and ended up getting my dress in Manhattan, which is about three hours away. Me and my mom took the train in that morning...arrived for my appointment at 11am...and then was told that the seamstress WASN'T COMING IN!!! I can't believe they didn't even call to tell me! They blamed it on the two inches of snow they got and told me she couldn't travel in...then I told them I traveled three hours to get there, and had NO PROBLEM, so that's no excuse! So I ended up trying my dress on at least, and realizing that it still needs more alterations, which were then relayed to the seamstress. My mom also called the manager and the seamstress to complain, so at least now they're giving me some of my money back. But now I have to go back this Saturday, again when the seamstress won't be there, because she doesn't work on weekends (RIDICULOUS)...and HOPE that everything is finally ok with it so I can take it home!

On the plus side though, I did find new shoes for my dress that I'm in love with! So I guess it was worth the trip just for that reason alone! :)

Katie- I’m sorry to hear about your dress fiasco! With all of the planning we do for our wedding, something is bound to happen. Hopefully this is the worst for you and it only gets better! Can you post a picture of your shoes?

FYI: For those of you planning on giving welcome bags to your guests upon check-in, Ael said the front desk staff is able to hand out the bags, we just need to make sure we label the bags and give a guest list to the front desk manager. She also noted “Bare in mind that a charge does not apply for this service but a token of appreciation will be more then welcomed.”

I actually ended up getting two pairs of shoes...the same shoe, but different colors. I'm posting the links below...let me know which ones you girls like better! I'm still so undecided, so I plan on trying them both on with my dress this weekend.

Sammysgirl- what a thoughtful FI you have!

Glad everyone had a good Vday- Congrats on the one year Katie! I am so sorry to hear about your dress. Like Alexis said though- hopefully this is the worst that will happen. I know how you feel- my boutique that I’m getting my dress at is about 2 ½ hours away- what a pain to have driven all of that way! Hoping the best for you!! Also- GORGEOUS shoes! I have to say, I am partial to pink (my shoes are pink!) but they are both beautiful. I say keep em both, that way you’ll have a wedding pair and a fun pair. We can never have too many pairs of shoes.

Thanks for the heads up Alexis! I’m not giving OOT bags, but mugs and welcome books. I was a tad nervous on how that would work.

I have a question for all past and future brides. For those that are doing the semi private dinner, is anyone doing placecards/seating chart? I don’t think I’ve asked this yet--- I’m getting maracas made, and thought it would be cute to put guests names and Playa del Carmen, 2010 on them, but I’m afraid set up will be too difficult. Just wanted to see if anyone else was doing them and how it would work?

Jannae- I considered doing a seating chart, but then decided against it. It's one less thing I will have to worry about when I'm there. I'd rather be relaxing by the pool rather than stressing out over who is going to sit where! I did a seating chart for my bridal shower and it drove me crazy!

Jannae, I'm not planning on doing a seating chart either, it just seemed like too much extra work. I am still really crossing my fingers my group will be able to have the 6:45 seating/reception!

I can't believe everyones dresses are getting in- So exciting! I can't believe mine still wont be in till March- only leaves 1 1/2 months for alterations and I haven't seen it since I ordered it in October! I was waiting to see it before shoe shopping but maybe I should get started incase it takes a while.

Today is FI and I's last 'dating anniversary' :) 8 years!

Congrats Paige!! Don't stress about the dress- maybe they will surprise you like they did me and it will come in early! They orignially told me late March at the earliest. I was originally a little sad it was early because I have a few lbs left to lose. I got over that quickly though

Ok, Katie and Paige, I'm convinced. No seating chart, no placecards. I don't want to have to worry about a single thing on that day. It would probably just cause confusion. Check that off of the list- thanks!

Love the new siggy pic Sammysgirl! I am getting them made by Mishka- Mishka Designs' Blog

She makes the most gorgeous ones, and you can personalize them to your color, theme, etc. She told me that the shipping to the US is outrageous, so my photog was gracious enough to let me ship them to her, and she will bring them. I can't wait to see them on my wedding day! It will be a fun surprise.

I have another question for everyone- past brides, or those that have been in contact w/ the coordinator. What do you do for your ceremony music? I know in the packages it says 'recorded music' or something like that, but can I bring my own CD? I originally was going to do the mariachis, but since you only get them for an hour, I didn't want them standing around for a ceremony. Thought they might be better at the cocktail hour, AND FI really wants certain music to walk to....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
