Hello all...

 

I need some help/advice! I am having a hard time finding a resort in the Riveria Maya. Please help me!!

 

I am looking for:

 

A resort that allows children

Must have a nice Beach!!

Resort on the beach

preferably at least 3 1/2 *'s

Good entertainment

Good drinks

1000.00 per person or less for 4 nights leaving from Minneapolis

 

Any recommendations?

Hahaha....Join the Club!!!! I have been trying to find a resort in Riviera Maya for awhile....I think I finally settled on Grand Palladium....have you been through the accomodations section in the Riviera Maya section? There is TONS of info there that should give you a good start.... Good luck!

I stayed at a resort in RM in January and for the life of me I can't remember the name. I do remember it was an AI and I stayed for 3 to 4 nights and what I believe was 4 to 5 days. I went through apple vacation and I got the deal for $860 a person. The food was great, the rooms were so cute, and the place was so nice. Since I went with my friend I will see if she remembers the name of the place.

Check out the Riu Palace Mexico. That's where we are having our wedding on April 23. I think all of the needs on your list can be met there. It is 5 stars, the beach is beautiful, children are allowed they have kids' club there), there are in-room liquor dispensers, and the price is reasonable (I'm not sure what you'll find out of Minn, but for our guests out of NY, Philly, Omaha, DC, Boston, etc, it was about $1500 PER COUPLE for three nights, incl airfare and transfers. We went through a travel agent who could find us the best packages.) You can go to Riu Hotels & Resorts and find the Riu Palace Mexico. Also, the Riu has 4 other resorts in the same area in Playa del Carmen which you can access for free if you stay at the Riu Palace Mexico. They are walking distance and each has different amenities, but at least one has a night club if you are looking for late night entertainment. Of course I would also check out tripadvisor.com to read reviews and see if it's what you'd want. Also, time of year will affect prices of course.

Iberostar

Grand Palladium

Barcelo

 

Medium

Riu Palace Mexico

Dreams Tulum

 

More expensive

Azul Beach

Moon Palace

 

Rough estimates there.

 

all of those I think meet your needs, and all are lovely, and I can't decide!!

I thought I had narrowed it down to barcelo and grand palladium, but now I'm thinking of dreams tulum again. I'm an idiot. sad.gif

 

But you won't have as much trouble, nobody else did!

Are you kidding me? I think it took more time to pick the resort than it did my FH!! Lol Seriously, though, it took me 3 months of research and deliberation. I'm still not sure! There isn't a resprt on the east coast I haven't looked into. My first choice was the Azul Beach Hotel, but it was too expensive for our guests. Judging from the reviews and pictures, I'm sure we'll be happy at the Riu, but it is scary, having never been there myself.

I know if I had it my way, it would be at a Carribean Island..... but it is too expensive. I have looked into the Riu Resorts, but my friends were married at one of them in PDC. I can't remember which one, but we did go to the others.

Then I thought I had my heart set on the El Dorado Royale.... but then I found out you can't swim at the beach. (And also found out there will be kids attending) I have talked with some travel agents about swimming there and they all said you can, but my friend had her honeymoon there, and said they didn't swim there at all. I think it is important for you to beable to use the beach if you have people spending 1000.00 for 4 days... especially when some of the guests have never seen/ been in the ocean. What do you guys think?

I think that is why I am having such a hard time. I want a nice resort... and it has to have a great beach. And good drinks. I have read a lot of complaints about drinks being really watered down at all inclusive resorts...My group of guests probably won't like that either....

I've actually heard that swimming anywhere in Riviera Maya is not that great because the water is REALLY rough and pretty dangerous....I think thats right. The Grand Occidental Xceret (I don't think thats how you spell it!) has a man-made lagoon/beach area....not big, but swimmable..... And I wouldn't worry about them watering down drinks. I mean, I guess it could happen...it happens in bars where you are paying for each drink. But I've honestly never heard it being a huge issue with anyone I know who's gone to an AI. In fact, I heard more that the drinks are crazy strong.....

I know, it is so hard, because you are not only trying to pick a place for the wedding of your dreams, but also a great vacation spot for all your friends and family... so you can't help but think about all their needs... sad.gif

 

I am actually thinking pretty seriously about the Riu Palace Mexico now... I know, I know, I change my mind every week, but I just feel like it is a really good combination of the Riu Palace Mexico for those that want to spend a bit more on luxury, and the Riu Yucatan or PLayacar next door for those that want something more affordable...

 

As for the beach, I am the same, I LOVE swimming in the beach, and plan to do it, and I hear that the beaches can get rough and rocky, but I also hear that people still enjoy it, and get great snorkelling, so I'm not too worried about that...

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
