I pulled a fast one on my FI...

Recommended Posts

I have been a trickster lately...

I told my FI that I found the PERFECT dress online and told him that I really wanted to send him a picture because it was a little different and I wanted him to see it and give me his advice. His initial response was, "just breaking all the traditions, are we?" To which I replied, "but it is just so perfect! I have to show you!"

So I sent him this dress:

Which, shocking enough as it is in its gorgeous tangerine... it also easily converts to a party all night dress... when the skirt comes off, revealing a miniskirt underneath:

I was FULLY anticipating him saying something like, "are you sure that's what you want?" BUT NO!!! HE ACTUALLY LIKED IT! what.gif He said the mini skirt at the reception would be hot... and the dress would be easy to dance in.

Since he wasn't letting me try to sell him on the dress, I worked on the color. "I've ALWAYS wanted to wear tangerine to my wedding. Please let me wear tangerine." After a few (like 10) seconds of objections, he said, "anything for my princess."

Not only that... he said, "and you could totally wear that again." By this time I was exasperated... and said, "WHERE?"

...I haven't been able bring myself to tell him it was all a joke.

HEE HEE!!!

So I told him by saying that I had another dress for him to look at... and sent him the link to this post.

HILLARIOUS! At first he was like "didn't you just show me that one?"

... and then 5 minutes later.. "WHAT! IT WAS ALL A JOKE?"

So I played the "I'm hurt. You don't know me at all!!" card.

He said "so send me a link to a dress you do actually like." So I sent him this one:

And he was like "WOW! You'd look gorgeous in that!"

And I said, "but it's over my budget. I only budgeted 750 and that has to include the dress, my viel, my shoes, and my undergarments."

And he replied, "that's easy. Just go without the shoes and undergarments and I'll make your viel. "

Practical, right?

"But you'll be my GOREGOUS bride."

That is funny. My FI was looking through one of my bridal mags and when he turned the page to a dress that looked like the skirt was made of feathers all over (totally not a dress for me, but maybe someone else), i asked him if he liked that one. He looked at me like I had grew another head and replied "If you walk down the isle in that, I am going to move over and you can keep walking right into the ocean!". Then we both started laughing.

Hahaha! Actually I think that I told him we were going to go in the ocean and I would be wearing the dress, but not until after the wedding. Then I got another strange look, and I had to explain the TTD. He doesn't really get it, but he is just going along with it.

Is the secong pic the dress that you are hoping to get?

I have no idea what I want yet...

I need something I can dance in... and by dance, I mean, advanced level ballroom dancing (think So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars...)... and I want something that will look amazing in the TTD pictures...

But... I'm also undergoing weight loss surgery in the next few weeks... and I have NO IDEA what my body will look like.

I know I want the sweatheart neckline and that's all I've got right now. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
