average you are/did spend on your fiance's ring???

Recommended Posts

so i was wondering what you guys were paying for rings for your FH. I finally talked shane into looking at wedding bands for him. since he works construction he wasn't going to get one but i wanted him to get one to wear when hes not working or just to have for when he wanted to wear it. so we go looking for rings and i guess i thought $600 would probably be the most i would pay, just cuz i didn't think mens bands were very much. of course the one he loves is $1200!!!! the lady told me she could sell it to me for $799 but i think that is a lot. it is very plain and i don't like it much, but then again i would never want him to be that way with something i like. should i convince him to keep looking or suck it up and buy it?? it is a wedding band so price shouldn't matter righthuh.gif is this a lot to payhuh.gif thanks ahead of time!!!

My FI also works in construction, so he knows its going to get beat up. We were thinking of doing Tungsten, as Christine suggested, but then we were told that because Tungsten is so strong if he ever broke his finger, the hospital wouldn't be able to cut it off and to have it re-sized you have to send it back to the manufacturer, at least this is what we've been told. And since he's in construction and very accident prone, breaking his finger isn't very far fetched. So Palladium was suggested instead. I looked online a little bit today and most of the rings I've found that he likes were between 500-800, I think. I don't think 799 is bad, but you could keep looking rather than paying 1200.

OK, so I can't even believe I am telling you this... :) Ready..... I went and found the cheapest, cutest ring. My husband is a mechanic at a trucking company and also farms. He will probably only wear the ring when we go out, if that! His ring cost...... $90! Ha! But he loves it!

Honestly, I think it really depends on what you guys are looking for. When we started looking at rings for David, I was thinking we'd get a platinum band since he really wanted a simple band and my e-ring was platinum...it just seemed sensible. Then we saw how freakin' expensive platinum is ($1200 was the least expensive band I could find) and he totally vetoed the idea.

So we talked to a jewler and finally settled on white gold and got a 5 1/2mm comfort fit band for $250. It was so inexpensive I acutally felt really bad at first. Although I got it engraved without telling him and he was so surprised and happy about it that I felt a lot better! But really, it's exactly what he wanted - so if he's happy, I'm happy.

Also, you can have white gold treated and it will look pretty much like new. SO we figured that whenever it starts looking kind of beat up, we'll just take it in and get it recoated to look like new...and I think that usually runs about $25-30 per treatment at the jewler we bought it from.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
