I just got back from speaking with a new travel agent, my FI and I decided on Dreams Tulum!!! While we were talking with the TA he said that we needed to be in country 4 buisness days prior to the wedding but another TA said we only had to be there 48 hours! This is causing scheduling issues and some stress. Does anyone know exactly how long we need to be in Mexico before we get married? I need to figure this out quickly becuse Dreams is booking up fast!

To do a legal wedding, Dreams Resorts requires you to be there 4 days in advance. The country of Mexico only requires 2 days I think. You have to do blood work and apostile documents for the legal ceremony so some people get legaly married in their hometown and do a symbolic ceremony at their resort. That is one way around the 4 day policy. They still want you there a couple days in advance to go over details tho. I need to be at Dreams Puerto Aventuras on a Wednesday for my Saturday wedding.

I was wondering but this really puts a bit of a issue with some of my guests! Also it has to be business days so my FI might stay 2 weeks so we get a real honeymoon instead of just coming straight back!? I hope I am relaxed all those days were there. or maybe will will just do the courthouse thing and then do the religious down there. That really sounds much eaiser! Thank you for your replies!

It sounds like it is different with different resorts-- but for us, we were legally married in Mexico at El Dorado Royale resort-- we got there on Tues and got married on Friday. Most of our guests arrived Wed and stayed until Sunday.

Good luck! :)

Just a thought, but the courthouse thing may make everyting in your lives (like name changes, insurance beneficiary changes, etc.) a whole lot easier. Plus, you don't have to get a needle stick when you get to Mexico.

You can, of course do the legal thing when you get back if you don't want it to pre-date your religious ceremony.

I get to Dreams Cancun on the Monday and get married on the Friday and apparently thats ok. I think it is mainly for the bloodwork turnaround.

And as far as I've been told its only you and your witnesses that need to be there 4 days before anyone else in the group can go when they want

Dreams Tulum does require 4 days (not counting arrival but counting your wedding day, although in my case I convinced them to count my arrival day, otherwise I would have had to get married the night before leaving since all vacation packages from canada are exactly one week, and weekends don't count in the 4 days).

One other DT bride has mentioned in the other big thread that she is getting married after only 2 days, but she is the only one out of the large number of us who was successful with this.

So if it's important to you, it wouldn't hurt to try pushing for just the 2 days.

Well everything is moving along! We talked with a travel agent that just did a destination wedding at Tulum! smile123.gifThey only have 3 days left in May for weddings!! So that kinda picked out our wedding day but thats ok. Its finally nice to have a day picked. Considering were getting married on the 26 and that will be our 4 day including the arrival day. I was wondering if we just got married at the court house and then did a renewal down there if its less hassel with the paperwork and the blood tests and if you could get out of the 4 day thing? If not its not a big deal things are finally starting to move along!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
