Best Destination Wedding Forum - Announcements in Forum : Forum News & Updates

the forum (as it is now) has been around since 2006 and was started by Tammy Wright, who is now a travel agent (check her agency out at Wright Travel Agency - she is the TA to many BDW brides and she's totally fantastic!) and was also a destination bride who got married at Dreams in Cabo.

here's her wedding review, she's the ORIGINAL BDW bride!

and here's a link to her beautiful photos:

the forum used to be just for Cabo (see here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t793 and here: Best Destination Wedding), but she expanded it to encompass many other destinations to help other brides.

When Tammy originally started this forum, she wasn't actually even a travel agent yet. She started it with a few other girls that she'd met on another forum that wanted a better, more informative place to discuss their destination weddings. There were only a handful of girls in the beginning- like 10 or so, but it quickly outgrew the old forum and branched out to be more than just Cabo. I think when I joined in summer '06 there were still only like 50ish members. It's amazing how much this has grown in 2 years!

If you go to the front page of the forum, and scroll down almost all the way to the bottom it lists forum statistics. Here's what I just copy/pasted :

this forum has really grown...i tell this story but i remember when there were about 5 members but everyone was too shy to post so i was the only one posting and responding to myself like a crazy person.

the reason this forum is so great is because everyone is so supportive of each other and we have a fantastic team of moderators keeping spammers out.

we also have an amazing team travel agents on here that have been so knowledgeable about travel regulations, rates, resort reviews. etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
