Well let me start by saying this forum is great and I love reading everyones ideas and thoughts. So I am asking for everyones suggestions in helping me find a resort. I have been to a travel agent and well... not much help. I have browsed and browsed and when I think I have a place narrowed down I read a couple reviews on tripadvisor and once again I am back to square one. I started out wanting to be a Moon Palace bride. Then I really liked the Dreams Cancun. Then I thought these places were going to be to busy. I looked at some pictures of both and the beach at moon palace looked a bit rocky and way to much seaweed. I love the beach so thats why the beach there is such a concern. Then I found something with dreams that turned me off. I have looked at probably every resort!! The biggest problem is I am paying for my parents to fly down there and stay so I am trying to keep the cost down with out putting them at a different resort. My family is very important to me and my parents have had some really rough times and I want to do this for them. I just really want to find a wonderful place that wont kill my bank account!! Please any kind of suggestions would be great!

I don't have a resort for you, but I just wanted to say that I searched my brains out before deciding on a resort. And, like you, I'd pick a place and then go read as many reviews as possible. The thing is, you're always going to find someone who hates it.

I have been to Moon Palace, and I'll just tell you that we LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND we were there. The beach does get a little seaweedy though. But the resort itself makes up for it over and over again.

I don't have a suggestion for a resort, but I wanted to say that I would take what you read on tripadvisor with a grain of salt. I think that site is great to check out people's pics, but as for the reviews, there are just some people who will always find something to complain about. One guy complained that people spoke Spanish at one of the resorts I was considering- Hello, its in Mexico. lol So, just figured I would throw that out there. If the beach is what is most important to you, then find a place with a great beach and unless all of the reviews are complaining about the same things I wouldn't worry too much about them. There are also some great photogs on this site who live in the area and could probably make some recommendations for you... Good luck!

Everyone thanks for responding. I totally agree with the tripadvisor part. I do try and just look at the pictures but i end up wondering what the bad reviews were all about. Sometimes pictures can say a thousand words! I told my FI that we are going to sit down together and decide whats really most important and go from that. I am up for for more suggestions!! I might go and see another TA on Sat. I was just so frustrated with the last one and her lack of knowledge on weddings. smile105.gifI just want the picking part to be over! lol oh well off to keep looking. oh one last thing have any of you heard of Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya? I really liked this resort but wedding info was pretty limited. thanks again!!

If you're interested in Dreams Cancun you should talk to TA Jill. She got married there and it was such a gorgeous venue for a wedding. Just PM her and I'm sure she could assist you more than most TA's.

The further south you go (Tulum, Akumal) the nicer the beaches get.

If Dreams Cancun holds appeal, then what about Dreams Tulum?

My TA recommended the Grand Sirenis when we were looking, I can't remember why we decided against it, but I do remember the prices being great!

like others said, i wouldn't listen to all the reviews on trip advisor. I tried to focus on the ones that had the good and bad about the trip, they are probably the most honest ones. I would only listen to the bad reviews if there was a lot of them in a row, that's never a good sign. But if there's a great review then a bad review, i tend to think the bad review was someone who was really picky or complains about everything. KWIM?

But definately check out the reviews on this site of the resorts.

Picking the resort is the hardest part! I still switch back and forth between 3 or 4 resorts. I'm hoping it will be an easy choice after we do site visits in a couple months. There isn't a perfect resort. There are pros and cons to each whether its price, beach, or just the wedding sites ... but try not to get too frustrated with the smaller stuff ....

oh and some of the tripadvisor people are just plain crazy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
