Veil freakout - what to do?

Recommended Posts

Jill - I think I might look into having it made, I just dont' have a great picture! I will probably go to a few stores first, just to see if there's anything I can find. Like I said, I literally haven't looked at all. If I can't find anything, I may go to a craft store and see if I can at least find something for the trim I like. I don't care THAT much about the veil - but I want something I like, and that goes w/the dress. No way am I paying $500 - cna't do it!

Ann I thought of you at the craft store today when I was there and they actually had some decent ones, but they weren't super long. I think it was Tasha that had hers made, check out Jessalyn's thread on veils I think the link is in there.

OMG Ann that's insane!

Other than Ebay here's some places in Chicago:

House of Brides~ Various locations, but they are often on sale and you can purchase off the rack

VIP Occasions~ Elmhurst,

Here Comes the Bride~ Web Page Under Construction designer sample shop

I do! I Do! 4704 N. Damen, accessories shop but unsure of the pricing and selection

Urbane Weddings 1920 N Damen, accessories shop but unsure of price and selection

Good luck!

By the way before I opted to buy veil online I could only justify spending $150 max and I thought that was a lot.

I paid around $275 for my veil which I still thought it was a lot but try just going to a cheaper bridal store and Im sure you will find something you love
I wish you had talked to me before you got your veil. There is a store in Toronto's Sussman's, that sells veils for so cheap. My sisters was beautiful and she paid $50 for it there. They have hundreds. Toronto Brides, its on Queen W, it has tons of beautiful head pieces for cheap as well.

Ann, that is crazy, never would I spend that much money. Do what Jilly said and check out Ebay, or go to other bridal stores in your neighbourhood. If only you lived closer, I could take you to Sussmans.

Thanks, Jenetta - I think that will be my mission next weekend. I also know that White Chicago sells veils - so I'll check that out too. Thanks everyone! I know I can find something, it's just a matter of doing it - and I guess I have plenty of time if I don't go the designer route.

I know I am late on this but that is insane! I don't care if it is a diamond encrusted veil. No way am I paying $600 for a veil. That is crazy. This is an item that I think people should resell so that everyone benefits from it. It is crazy to pay so much!!!!! Def see if you can have it made or try to get it cheaper at another place. Also I know you probably won't want to wait but I know that in Mexico (especially places like PV) they sell veils for much cheaper and they make them beautifully. You should look into that.

Ann ~

Don't know if this helps, but i did some research on veils. (I'm going to make my own) But, they are usually made out of two types of fabrice either Tulle or Bridal Illusions (if I remember right, one of these fabrics is stiffer than the other). They don't have a ton of different shades of ivory....there is only one ivory. So, which ever veil you get, as long as it is in ivory, it should match just fine.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
