Hi Guys,

I need some honeymoon help please I am currently looking at staying at the Tides at PDC for 3 nights and then EDSS for 4 nights. Has anyone been to either of these places I would like to have an amazing honeymoon.

I am worried about the beach at both places as we will want to swim and snorkel, and what the resorts themselves are like. Any informationyou have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Salena

hi salena-
i stayed at the tides (while it was just changing over to tides from ikal del mar) it was amazing! - i honestly couldn't say enough about it- its romantic and secluded and probably one of the best vacations i've ever had- i think it would be an amazing place to honeymoon- they also do a beautiful mayan love ceremony on the beach that could be a nice thing to do (even after your wedding)
the beach was beautiful - you can definitely swim and snorkel away there
i highly recommend it- let me know if you have any specific questions...

Thank you so much guys, I have read some reviews on trip advisor mosty are good but they say there is construction going on next door which worries me a little. And some said that you could not swim there due to the beach being rocky.

So that has really set my mind at ease there thank you!!

Does anyone have any info on the beach etc at EDSS please??

Thanks Again Salena

  • 2 months later...

I was at EDSS about 2 years ago and am going back to be married there....

The beach at EDSS isn't the fine sand you find in playa.. it is a coral sand.. so it is a little more course on the feet.

Therer are tones of fish.. we went out every morning, stand about waist deep in the water and would feed them bread or banana.. and the fish just swarm around you... also while sitting on the beach we saw a baracuda jump in the water.. 'yikes'

but if you have your own snorkel equiment would be best as the flag was only green one day where we were then allowed to use them..

Now with that said... IT IS the most romantic resort ever! We loved it.. it is small.. there was beach drink (and lunch) service... even the 'lowest' rom category was fantastic.. jacuzzi (sp) in every room.. and the hammocks are to die for.

There isn't much activies.. but the beach beds ( you may have to run out and reserve them early) especially the ones that swing in the wind are out of this world..

One note... if your only going for a couple days.. may all your evening eating reservations ASAP... as it can be hard to get in. Mia Casa (italian) is the best! Maybe even 'pre reserve' (via email them) for you first night.. it'll really set the tone!!

good luck! and don't worry...

My fiance and I are down here now. We are staying at the Tides this weekend and can give an update then. Does anyone have any recommendations for wedding locations that we "must" check out while we are here? We have seen the Dreams resorts and have appointments at El Dorado and 2 of the Secrets resorts. We are looking for elegance, value and fun for all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
