Hello!

We are getting married in Playa Del Carmen as well in May of 09. We are set on May 7th..but haven't booked it yet so hopefully we can still do it! but I've been doing research for a while now. We decided to actually use Ajua Weddings as our wedding coordinator. We found that you can stay in some pretty decent hotels in play for pretty cheap! and most include a complimentary breakfast. We like the idea of our guest being able to wonder all about town and not have to worry about staying at a resort to get their monies worth. The hotel that we are most likely going to stay at is La Tortuga. It's an awesome boutique hotel on 10th Ave(block west of 5th which is the main street) It's a nice peaceful hotel that also has AWESOME complimentary breakfast. Sooooo filling. They also give you passes to Mamitas beach club which is kind of a walk away but worth it. The beach is awesome plus it doesn't hurt to walk a bit after their filling breakfast! You get a 2 free chairs and a palapa. I also heard they now added another new beach club which is closer called Zenzi? it wasn't around when we were there last August..but heard it's more expensive.

But great service at the hotel. Also..we are going to go to the Walmart in town and stock up on snacks and stuff for during the day so we really only have to worry about dinner.

part of me is starting to research the all-inclusive resort Gran Porto Real which is the sister hotel I believe to the REal that you are looking into. there is a review on here from a recent bride and it seemed to be pretty reasonable and right off of 5th avenue unlike all the other resorts that are in Playacar Phase 1 or 2.

We are on a tight budget as well and are trying to save as much money as possible. Good luck and keep us posted on what you are finding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
