My puppy turns 1 in about a month and I want to have a party for her. :) Has anyone ever baked a doggy cake? If so, would you mind sharing the recipe. We only feed our puppy dog food (sometimes she gets the occansional lick of people food) but I want to do something for her besides just doggy treats. Any ideas?

Dog Birthday Cake Recipes

I just stumbled upon this site and like what i've seen so far, though I haven't tried any recipes yet.

Our dog needs to lose some weight and is getting older so he is having some digestive problems so I'm going to start making his food, I think.

Let me know how it turns out!

You can also buy the Frosty Paws ice cream to go with the cake. Harley LOVES ice cream!

We had a party for our puppy for her 1st birthday and made something like this cake. It was SOOO easy and she LOVED it! I actually made it into cupcakes because she is tiny! Also for the topping I whipped the vanilla yogurt with some peanut butter!! Hope this helps!

Bacon Chicken Layer Cake

This recipe makes a real layer cake! Chicken, bacon and yogurt provide aromas that drive dogs crazy for this cake.

•3 cups flour

•1 T. baking powder

•1/2 cup margarine, softened

•6 eggs, beaten

•1/2 cup corn oil

•2 jars strained chicken baby food

•2 cups finely shredded carrots

•plain or vanilla yogurt

•2 or 3 strips of bacon, fried crisp, then crumbled, or use bacon-flavored jerky strips, cut into bits.

Generously grease and flour two 8" round cake pans; set aside. Combine flour and baking powder; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat softened margerine until smooth. Add eggs and corn oil; mix well. Add strained chiicken, and shredded carrots and mix until smooth. Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Pour batter into the 2 prepared 8" cake pans. Bake at 325° for 60 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely on wire racks.

Place one layer on a serving plate and spread yogurt over top. Place second layer on top, then spread yogurt on top and sides of entire cake. Sprinkle crumbled bacon or bits of jerky strips over top. Use "Pupperoni" sticks for candles.

YEAH!!! I am bringing doggy goodie bags to obedience class cuz my puppies first bday is on a day we have class. I found a dog bakery that has biscuits that look like ice cream cones and I am going to put a tennis ball in them!! You must post pics of the bday party! Too fun!

Thanks. Maybe I will have to try this one! My dog is also small (about 9 lbs) so cupcakes are a good idea. I am planning on having her doggy friends over too for the party. I think I really need to have a baby!! wink.gif

My dog is my baby or maybe my 7 year old. He weighs about 85 pounds!

I have a friend who would have parties all the time for her dog, but now looking back, I think it was more of an excuse for us all to get together and drink.

We had a first birthday party for our dogs as well. We actually got their cake from a doggie bakery for like $20.00 and put little hats on them. If I were at home I'd post some pictures.. lol

Just an FYI if your pup has tummy issues like my boys, the cake or ice cream might give them soft stool for a couple days. Just an FYI.. :-)

Oh and be sure to post bithday pictures after the party..

We had a party for my dog when she turned 10. We invited all of our friends' dogs to the dog park and had doggie cupcakes made by their doggie daycare. We gave the cupcakes to the guests' parents as they left to avoid dog fights.

Also my dogs love Frosty Paws and they also love the desserts that Nutro now makes for dogs. They love the carrot cake and the pumpkin pie best!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
