I believe you have to call ahead and request it. You will want the south end of the building, as pool number 1 is at the north end it is very noisy and is the party spot until about midnight.

-Definitely go to the mexican a la carte it was delicious. the Italian was very good as well. (it's the only restaurant with a/c). the japjap (japanese) and the wok(thai) were ok but I think I would rather had more choices at the buffet.

-the cleaner the maids use smells so good! weird but it's one thing both my fiance and I loved haha. The show's at night were awesome! you have to go. 95% of the tourists are Canadian so the staff plays up the Canadian pride. (I almost felt bad for the Americans)

-We read a lot of reviews on tripadvisor before going, so I feel we were prepared for most things you need to know about. It's a long way to Peurto Vallarta from the resort. I underestimated the distance. it's a 40 taxi ride to downtown PV. it will cost 200 pesos each way. We only went once which was fine by us, as Bucerias is an awesome little authentic mexican town that's right beside the RDC.

-our room was one big shower only.

We are going to go back to the RDC when we get married as that's where we got engaged. it's a perfect AI resort at a good price. We haven't decided if we are having the wedding at the resort or off.

Hope this helps
Billy
Thank you Billy it is very helpful. Too bad PV is 40 minutes away, oh well I think we will still head in to town at least 1 day.

Do you recall if there were bus trips that go to PV for clubbing/bar hopping?

Congrats, I have not stayed there myself planning to for our April 2011 wedding but know lots of people who have and a co-workers daughter was married there.

Some advice/info from them.....
1. Bring a big insulated Mug
2. Alarm Clock
3. Wedding Coordinator Jennifer is awesome, organized and easy to work with
4. Go to Salyuta not sure of the spelling, but amazing surfing to watch or try yourself, about 10 minutes past Bucarieus.

I am sure it will be a beautiful wedding. You will have to give me an update when you return.

Nolitours is on site and offers that tour just book it when you get there. you can also take the walk into bucerias and deal with Scott tours if you want to save some money. Scott is American and highly recommended.

I travelled to the royal decameron and would definitely return!! I agree, I would bring a travel mug & a clock radio. The bus into PV is $2 and a taxi is $40 (round trip). I would definitely recommend walking in Bucerias and talking to Scott, he has a variety of tours and knows his stuff, not only will you save money but you will get better trips! I toured all over PV, I felt safe and loved the people and the experience. They do offer a pub crawl that is organized through Nolitours... it too was a great experience!! PV also has bungee jumping... over the water... super fun!! The town itself is rich in beauty and would be great for any artistic wedding photos!!

The resort is nice, I stayed in building 5 (5&6 are the newest) and they are around the quite pools. The staff were so accommidating and nice!!

If anyone has any questions please PM me!!

Even though my wedding is not until March 30, 2011 I was a little bummed that Jennifer is not there any more either, she was soooo good. I kept a running log of the emails between us and forwarded them to Patrick that way he can read through and be up to speed on what our plans and communications are (you should do the same). I am sure everything will work out wonderfully. When you have time we should chat more. I am curious to know if you will be getting your flowers there? I am basically bringing my wedding party and outfits and hoping they can take care of all the rest.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
