What's Worse: calories OR chemicals?

Recommended Posts

I've tried the stevia..it was okay....I think it had kind of a weird taste but maybe that's just me....I can't stand splenda cause its too "fake" sweet for me sad.gif

We actually just had this conversation at work...."low-fat" vs. moderation of full fat....its a tough call!!! Have you tried getting really good, rich chocolate? This works for me because its SO rich, you can't eat to much or it kinda makes you feel nauseous. Also, I'm not sure how much water you drink (I don't drink NEARLY enough!) but I've read over and over again that often times people mistake "thirst pangs" for hunger pangs cause most people don't drink enough water.....

Its definitely difficult to do the moderations route, but thats definitely what I try to stick to. It sorta freaks me out when food is "fat-free, sugar-free, low calorie"...I mean, what the hell is in there!?!?!?!

Ummm...I love Splenda. I can't use other sweetners, I think they taste like chemicals, but I love splenda. Its made from sugar, so its supposed to be better for you. I will see if I can find that article I read about it.

I don't like Stevia, I tried it, cause I liked that it was organic, but I think it tastes really strange. That is just my opinion.

Kash - your body is going through a bit of withdrawl which you will get through quickly if you cut out sugar entirely and eat natural fats (like those that come from nuts and olive oil).

You will find that once your cravings for sugar subside, you won't even want it. If you power through (drinking water will help), you'll be amazed. I know it seems hard to believe. Fats are a different story. Your body needs them to process food (unlike sugar, which doesn't really do much aside from get your body off kilter as it causes you to peak and spike).

It's easier to stave off the sugar cravings if you make sure you're not hungry in the process. It will be better for you in the long run. Eat satisfying, healthy foods more often while you're going through this. Even if you go over your points just a bit per day for about a week, you'll get over the sugar craving and then you can go back to your point allocation.

I think that this is one of the reasons why WW gives you as many veggies as you want to eat throughout the day. You stay filled up on things that your body can process and do something with so you're not processing empty calories and fats that leave you wanting more.

I think you may be right about the "withdrawal." It's like my body knows it's getting less calories so it's telling me to eat sweets to stock up! I do drink plenty of water and honestly all day long I feel fine - but for some reason after dinner the sugar cravings kick in... strange because pre-WW I rarely ate sweets at night. Honestly I rarely ate sweets before at all.. so who the hell knows... I just need to get through it and hopefully it will go away!

Ladies, thanks for all the advice!

There's also stevia (I think) an organic sweetener sold in health food stores - has anyone tried this before? Maybe I'll give it a shot in my coffee and let you guys know!
kash, we use stevia at home...mostly for steve...he crashes when he has too much sugar but doesn't with stevia...also, you do not need to use as much as you would regular sugar.

Kash, I'm kind of the same way, I was driving home today and all I could think about was chocolate and I just have this immense craving for junk food, I even contemplated stopping at this bakery, that was next door to where my appointment was! It's so awful! But I think Natashas right, we just have to try to stay away from the junk food and eat good food for a few weeks and we'll start to feel better!

Well we'll just have to do it together!

I was suppose to weigh in today but it turns out I set my alarm wrong last night so by the time I came into work I didnt' feel right leaving for lunch. PLUS the scale wasn't as low as I was hoping it'd be!

So I want to be EXTRA good today and see if I can shake it back down a pound or two for a weigh in tomorrow...

no sweets tonight!

I know, I ate light today, I worked out and I'm sitting here on my computer thinking about what I could eat that won't make me be up when I weigh myself tomorrow!

    • STAY AWAY FROM CARIBBEAN EMOTIONS PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Michael Weiler is a SCAMMER he took our money and disappeared!! we hired him as our photographer for our wedding back in November, he gave us a run around for the first week or 2 saying our pictures are almost ready and then disappeared. we have been sending him emails, texts and phone calls for the past 4 months and he is now where to be found. I made a fake account to email him and he answered right away as he is only interested in taking peoples money and not give anything in return.
    • For weddings you should definitely use a travel agent as there are promotions and amenities with a group block that you will not get by booking individually like comped rooms, upgrades, spa treatments, etc.
    • Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are lots of great resort options in Punta Cana and we have stayed at or toured many of them.  Are you looking for a family friendly resort or adults only?  What you interested in with nature and the ceremony? All of the resorts will have different wedding locations and there are also a variety of off resort wedding venues in Punta Cana. Please feel free to email us at info@wrighttravelagency.com if you'd like us to send resort info and check group rates. Thanks! Patty
    • Hello Everyone!  I am currently in the initial stages of planning and I am starting to look at resorts in Dominican Republic. I am thinking of having my wedding in October 2020.  I have been looking at resorts in Punta Cana, but I also want to look at other options/areas as well. The groom and I enjoy nature and we would like to incorporate that into our wedding in some way. We may also have a guest list between 50-80 people. Since we live in the US, I wanted to find a location that is accessible from major airports and is cost efficient for our guest as well as us. Can anyone share what locations they have searched or been to other than Punta Cana? Also I am okay to receive feedback on some Punta Cana locations.
    • Thank you! I did not make these. I purchased them from a business. They are still for sale if you are interested!
