Packing Wedding Supplies

Recommended Posts

Shipping in advance can be a little iffy -your stuff wil have to clear customs (and you are not there to explain you are getting married, show your wedding dress etc). It's very possible things could get hung up there for days, or that duty could be assessed on your items. I say try to bring with you whenever possible, even if it means begging others to carry some stuff with them. I am getting very concerned about this too.......but I did just find a huge suitcase at Walmart for $80 and the room inside it is incredible.

there are a bunch of threads about this, but most girls carry it on and ask an attendant to hang it in the coat closet, or lay it flat in the overhead. also, a lot of resorts can have it pressed for you.

  • 2 years later...

We plan on splitting some stuff up with our bridesmaids and family, asking them each to bring on a carry on with some of our decorations in it. I am not for a while yet, but if you ask people close to you to carry a little it may be a lot better than paying the extra amount.. Just make sure you track who has what!

Bubble wrap is key!

I'm going to find my FI the biggest suitcase we are allowed to take and then ask him to pack (he always packs the bare minimum!) I then plan on using the rest of the space in his suitcase for all our stuff, cause I doubt I will have extra room in mine!! ha!

Best way to pack a lot of items without losing any space is Ziploc bags :)  Thanks Oprah for that lifesaver tip.  I can fit 8 shirts in one bag....lol.  Honest, Ziploc EVERYTHING from underwear to swimsuits to pants and shorts, toiletries....literally everything!  You'll be amazed at how much you can fit and how it won't go overweight.  My BFF didn't even believe until I repacked her 'busting at the seams' suitcase and everything fit ;)  Good luck!

I have been going over this in my mind for a while and I'm worried about carrying so much through customs. Do most people break it up into different suitcases? LOL- I told FI that he has to use a big suitcase (he normally packs very light).

I'm not a great packer to start with, so I'm totally lost.

I know, right!?!  Give it a try...  oh and for clothes roll them up long wise.  They won't wrinkle and that's what allows for so many per Ziploc (use the large ones..they work best).  Also, bite the corner (just a wee bit) to let the air out of the bag.  It allows for even MORE room in your suitcase :)  You know how us women like to pack lots and lots and lots!  LOL.  This works for me every time!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
