Flowers in floating water

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on using tall vases, filled with orchids or some other type of flower, with a floating candle at the top. Here are a few pictures I've found for inspiration:

I really like that first one you posted Amy with the purple flowers. The tall vases give a really cool effect too. I may have to look into this. Do you use fake or real flowers? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

I'm going to use silk flowers becuase they're cheaper and you can't tell the difference once they're under water. I love the first picture too!

Does anyone know what type of flower is in this picture? I love the idea but am not sure how to keep the flowers afloat in my hurricane vases.

they look like white Phalaenopsis Orchids Catalina Silk Flowers - Silk Orchids - White Phalaenopsis Orchid Stem

To keep them from floating you can either place the whole stem in the vase, if its too light, maybe try adding river rocks or somehthing of the sort to hold the stem in place.

Or, what I did was use curly willow and individually tied each flower onto the orchid.. it was a pain but I tried it with fresh mini orchids PITA!

Thank you!! Do you twist the stem to get the curly effect?

We're also going to have floating flowers in our centerpieces.

I'm trying to decide between a more simple centerpiece (like the purple orchids in the post above) and something like the attached picture. They're both so pretty & I think I'd be happy with either.

Thoughts?
