Hey everyone,

I just got back from my wedding at El Dorado Royale. I know when I was planning, pictures were very helpful. So if anyone is interested in checking out pictures from our wedding, go here: Welcome to Matt May Photography - San Francisco, California

Click on People/Events then Store then People and Events (again). Click on Nick and Dana - Wedding for Wedding pictures and Nick and Dana - pre wedding for some beautiful pictures of the property.

Just FYI, we had our ceremony at Gazebo 55 and our reception at Tucanes. It was WONDERFUL!

Let me know if anyone has any questions!

Dana

Thanks for sharing!

(I have bolded my questions)

what flowers did you get?

I love how classy the white runner - basic decoration - basic wood chairs etc looked a tthe ceremony! Ive been sad I cant afford a ton, but you show less is more - so classy!

at Gazebo 55 - did you find it windy? Could people hear you with the mic?

what did your guests think of the resort?

you and your hubby look soooo nice together - you look so happy :)

Did you use your "free" reception for something else, like a rehersal etc. If so, what/where? How was it.

I noticed people had cigars

did you get a cigar bar, or how did that work

I am so sorry I have so many questions.

Looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats again!

Dana,

You were one beautiful bride and you have a fabulous group of family & friends! I can only hope that my wedding turns out to be as beautiful as yours :). I'm also going with Tucanes and I also have a few questions for you if you don't mind me asking...

What private dinner option did you go with?

Where did you gentlemen purchase their cigars?

What time was your ceremony? reception?

Did you choose to do a cocktail? If not, where were guests directed to go while you, groom, and bp took pics?

Thanks,

Thanks everyone! You are all so sweet!

We went with the BBQ Buffet for the reception dinner. It was FANTASTIC! I can honestly say I have never had a buffet so good! There was so much food and it was all hot and tasty. Everyone was just dissapointed that they couldn't try everything!!

We really didn't want to pay for a separate cocktail hour since we weren't really THAT concerned about it being private. So, I told Valeria (our coordinator) and she said we could just "take over" one of the bars at the property (but we still had to approve this through her) - which is what we did. And, we were actually the only ones in the bar. It was funny, EDRs only concern was that we would rush the bartenders and they couldn't handle it. So she had us pick a signature drink that they were supposed to have waiting for us (this is where those blue drinks came from in the pics) However, the bartenders didn't know anything about it - but made all the drinks when we showed up anyway. We did this at Guacamayas (which is the late night bar on the property) It was convenient because it was next to Tucanes, but we spent a lot of time at that bar throughout the whole visit, so in hindsight I might have chosen a different one for the cocktail hour.

Our ceremony was at 4PM. We did group pictures from 4:30P to 5P. At 5PM everyone headed off to Guacamayas for drinks while we did some private photos. We then met up with everyone and headed to dinner at 7:00PM. We were concerned that was too much time for people to hang out, but it went really fast. People were a little buzzed by dinner.. but in a good way :)

They have a gift shop in the main lobby that sells cigars. There is also a tobacco shop on the property, but they didn't sell cigars.

I have to say, this resort really was fantastic, I really have no doubt that whatever choices you guys make for your wedding, it will be amazing!!

Raphaela, the head WC at EDR offered to have signature drinks ready and waiting for my daughter's dessert reception at the Health Bar after the dinner at Fuentes. Apparently this is done if you know to ask for it or happen to be told by your WC.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
