Share your placecard photos/inspirations here

Recommended Posts

Well ladies, I am pretty much over the DIY stuff, but just found out last night I have to have placecards because we are serving two different choices of entrees. girl_werewolf.gif I have no freakin clue what to do, all I know is that I prefer everything to be paper - no starfish because I don't have enough time to air them out/paint them/drill holes and all that jazz. Can you post photos of your placecards or your inspirations for them so I can get some ideas? TIA!

Maura, I posted this for Amy in our July thread....

When my BFF got married, she had a chocolate theme. Anyhow, her escort Hershey bars were wrapped in tiffany blue paper and our names were in chocolate brown.....she had steak or salmon as her menu choices. If you ordred steak you also had chocolate brown polka dots on your escort card, if you ordered salmon you had stripes. They were SUPER cute, but I got drunk and ate mine instead of keeping it. ha!

Maybe a sly little thing like this is possible for you?

Or maybe use different color paper for the cards is an option too?

Hi Maura:

I just put this in the August thread, but figured I'd add it here, too so that the info was consolidated.

I have the same problem. It's a pain. My solution - I just created menu cards that are serving double duty as place cards, and then I have a stub on the bottom with people's names, table numbers and their meal choices which I'm going to perforate. People will just tear it off and hand it to the wait staff.

Minimal fussing - three cuts and then the perforation. Eventually I'll get a planning thread together and post a "clean" template there, but pm me if you want it sooner.

Here is mine. It's a large binder clip. Then I cut paper in strips of 2x2 I think. Glued it to the base. Then hole punched the middle part and whala! The color paper (in this case blue) indicates what meal they have chosen.

SUPER cheap and they also double as picture holders! :)

We had a nautical theme for our wedding. I used these sailboats as name and meal place cards. I told the coordinator that red= beef tenderloin, blue= grouper, tan= vegetarian, and yellow= kids. I just painted some of my extra blue boats to tan and yellow. By doing this, the hosts knew which meal to serve who by just looking at the color of the boats!

We are actually doing the stafish placecards. We were able to find starfishes that were already dyed the color we wanted. We did have to let them airdry for a week though to get the smell out. I plan on just making the namecards on heavy cardstock and tie them to the starfish with ribbon.

You could also do picture frames as placecards. That would be nice. They even have beach theme picture frames. Saw them on theknot store.

I like the candle idea that melglnh20 posted. That is also a really good idea!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
