If you have a cleaning lady....

Recommended Posts

We have a 4 bedroom, 2400 sq ft house and we only pay $65 for our cleaning lady. We have hardwood floors downstairs so there is a lot of mopping too (which I hate).

I don't think you should give up yet, It takes me all day to do what they can in 3. I think it's worth it if you find someone good. We went though about 4 or 5 different people before we found our current housekeepers.

Oh but I live in Mexico, that's why it's cheaper! heheh
LOL anny, i keep telling jose we need to move to mexico so we can afford a live-in maid because i HATE cleaning. his parents have two maids (one live-in, and one who comes 3x a week) and they have different duties. they pay the live in maid something like $80-100 a week and she lives there at their house for free and eats for free too. they even take her to the doctor when she's sick.

here in chicago, we paid $60 plus tip when we lived in a one bedroom/one bath apartment last year. we have yet to hire a cleaning lady for our new place we moved into in april but our cleaning lady we used to use charges $75 for a one bed plus den.

I don't have one for the new house. I'm dreading what that might cost - 5 BRs, good god...

Our 1Br/1Ba in NYC cost us $80 per visit. But she was AMAZING. The apartment was always perfect.

Yamille, if you want her contact info, let me know. I think she lives somewhere out in Queens.

I know! My parents had to maids too, but the both quit and now one of them has just come back, she's been with us for more than 15 years, she comes and goes but she's like part of the family, she does everything! my mom doesn't even do laundry

oh yeah anny i know what you mean - the maids are totally like family. my FMIL is actually in a fight with one of jose's cousins right now because the cousin moved to the US for a job a few years ago and stole one of my FMIL's favorite maids! well, my FMIL only just recently found out that that's where the maid went and now she's not talking to the cousin and apparently the cousin is not coming to our wedding because she is afraid hahahhahahahhahahhaha

Our lady is WONDERFUL! She has been with us for 2 years. She charges us $100 (I pay her $125) for 4000 sq. ft. She also helps me do the extra stuff like folds/puts away the laundry, helps me cook when I have a big party, etc.... she even walks my dog when she is here. I love her and couldn't live without her and her husband!

Our maid comes every 3 weeks and she is absolutely fabulous. I don't know how she makes the bed so tight. I can certainly appreciate a well made bed now!! We pay $80 and have about a 3,000 square foot townhouse (3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 4 levels).

We pay $40 for her to clean our 1050 sq foot house once a month. She does my parent's place too and she charges them $70 for a 3 bedroom house. She does a great job, except she puts things away in places that don't make sense and she will only start the laundry, but you have to remember to look into the washing machine the days that she comes other wise you have moldy towels, etc. Eh, you get what you pay for...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
